I think it has to do with Armament buffs. If you increase the base speed of everyone, the increase from buffs will be much higher giving more of an advantage to players with better armaments.

Also, I know when Mai came out that my riders kept glitching because they were too fast

The map has half the players it normally does. It's not speed for one, but the group as a whole. Servers can only keep up to a point before they become overloaded.

Think about how many players you get in AR, IR and in a region.

The phone (client device) displays the game and is in control of the framerate. But the server still has to make those calculations and pass it to the client.

If the server is too slow or overloaded, the client machine will glitch out.

I'm surprised they didn't use tablets instead with a direct wired connection. It's easier to manage. Wi-Fi does loads of silly things when ports are an issue.

Normally this works fine, but if you're throwing too many large calculations at the server, it will result in glitches.

You are correct!! With all the hype for the event it would be expected that IGG would cover all the bases. They failed big time. Sure makes a person want to invest money in the game when the devs can't make an event work that has been planned for months.

This was never going to be an actual esport, just some people doing their best to have a Lan party match 😅
Sucks they had all these technical issues, but even really large productions with millions of viewers run into that often. When it's a 1 time thing at an unfamiliar venue it's almost expected.

And what are they gonna do? Say one team plays with less players? What's the point then?
And weird to just have a whole backup team (?) on hand in case one doesn't show up fully??
