I straight train the highest lv I can

depends on the event, I think if you are going for using speed ups or normal training, doing t3 will help with events that require you to just train a lot of troops or increase their might. In that case you just upgrade a lot from t3 to t4, cheaper and less speed ups needed

most of those chests give heroes fragments so it makes sens to match the hero for that event

so if you are thinking to go to an older region basically any TC you missed for those heroes, let's say Bella, you will need to buy her from dailies otherwise she is not coming back

Regarding time spent you are right, but the rss difference is not that minor, especially in those big hospitals. 800k healing costs 115.2 M wood (stealing your numbers) while 280k training costs 100.8M wood
