Think of HP as like your total troop count. If your HP goes to 50%, it means you have 50% less troops and do less damage and take more damage.
Skills that reduce your Squad or Rally life by %, are way stronger than reducing atk or def.

But your Rally HP bar is not your real "HP". It shows you the current amount compared to maximum.
For example:
You send a 1m Rally, it keeps fighting and troops get injured to 500k, now people reinforce with 500k troops again ( 1m rally limit ).
Now you have 1m troops in the rally, but of a total 1,5m troops who have been in it from the start.

As the fight continues, you refill and the rally stay at 1m troops, but the total troop that has reinforced it grows and grows.
So even with full rally, you will see the life bar go down until its tiny red. 1m Rally of 10m total troops reinforced within the rally.

From my past experience i had with this kind of games. Its that F2P can actually focus on Purple heroes .
They are pretty good and have many uses and while you use them, you save a lot of legendary fragments, and once a new strong hero comes out, you can awaken them right away.

But yes there are heroes that are always a good choice, like Tom.

Not possible to go under g5 from my estimates, but would bet on g3.

We placed 1-4-1 before this last one in 8th. Will see, but may need to take a knee again. Not even the top 3 have won 66.7% or higher, so im fine at winning over 50%.

Same rewards for lower g, just not a smart play to push the top 3 g. Best we placed first was g2, or g3. I prefer to stay g5 area.
