That's not a bug it's just the odd way it works, you see people close based on the points you have, in the first few days theres a lot of change you can get quite high in the table the get beaten back down, after a while you run out of people you can win against and you reach an equilibrium

That is the wrong analogy. Let's say your might is 50m. You open ultimate showdown or arena. Every matchup you see is 100m+. After 50 refreshes, the lowest is 75m. Is that proper match making?

Well I've defiantly done it with T3vT4 though our research was on par my heros were mostly maxed in skills and stuff being why compared to their mediocre heros, I think its hard especially if you say T5vT6 because the difference is so massive but they'd have to have pretty shitty heros compared to really good ones as well as good research from the T5 player in general

There's also a matter of gear etc

It's hard to imagine someone with T6 would have that bad of heros be it money spent getting to T6 or grinding there

Not hard to understand how they beat you. They going around your defense, by placing power to the outside for your weakest areas. Only 2 can beat me here, I can defend one, but never both because they come in from opposing sides. Just like field battle, you skip, ignore the tanks go straight for attack powered heroes, burn tank last. Normal tactics as anyone can see how long it takes to get though tank. Assume everyone goes out of way to at go around tom, make tank on tank.

The hardest part and can't be controlled is the back edge attack heroes. They like to push out in battle a lot, this keeping them from the other buff proc from other heroes, so gets burned much faster.
