In this case, you’ve specifically directed the pawn to mine a selection. Colonists (Michael here) will try to fulfill that command.

Basically, they’ll break anything you tell them to.

Only warriors as of now.

They will also build anything you tell them to.

Try using Ctrl Z to cancel all orders. Your pawn is likely stuck trying to pathfinder to an order it can’t reach.

There really isn't one atm. Maybe send a warrior with your miner by manually ordering one to the cave. Not a great option, but likely the only one.
