Implementing mod support isn't as easy as a person might imagine, and it has been requested by many players. The devs are definitely aware that this is something that players would enjoy and find useful. It's best to just be patient. The best way you can contribute right now, is by becoming acquainted with the current modding techniques, and by making an effort towards developing your own modding tools.

Also for the end of this, I've put over 70 hours into making my own mods already, I'm doing practice as I want to make mods for the public in the future, my skills are not up to par right at this moment.
