#Keep old game engine availible

i have seen it mentioned somewhere that you will be able to switch back to the old one
if u don't mind me asking what's wrong with the new engine?
The font smoothing and overall smoother animations take away from the original feel of the game, there is less of a pixelated retro look and feel to the game (starting with the games intro animation where the menu fades in). As well as the smoother animations cause me to have headaches/motion sickness. Weapons look different, everything just looks different. This isn't the same game. And the response to the joystick is different which means basically retraining how to move around the game.
Other items are quite a bit different look wise which make it harder for me to read like the grimoire.
I haven't been able to find anything to that effect... if you find it I'd like to see.
its in one of the earliest steam posts mentioning the new engine
i believe it was the first ever post about new engine
agree on font issues and polish, etc, it feels like im playing a clone of the game or the walmart brand. can only hope they will use the extra free time with one engine for these sorta issues.
I've made a thread and a couple comments about this on the steam forums and they are deleting them. I guess that answers their stance on this.
Keep old game engine availible
i am pretty sure it will be available
I can't find anything to that effect and any discussion about it on steam is being supressed.
i am trying to find it rn
but i am 100% sure it was mentioned somewhere
in one of the older posts
found it
cant post photos here
"we need to develop a little launcher config tool first, that will allow you to choose what game version to launch and with what options."
its in the thread called "Where's the new engine"
so you can tell that launcher will allow you to choose between old and new engine
so old engine is going to be available
i can send you the full thread in dms
or wait i can send the link to this post
there you go
you can find this mention here
I'm not sure that is still their plan. In their latest post they mention they have been running both in parallel for awhile and in Auguest they are switching fully to the new engine.
they most likely mean that new engine will be the MAIN one
but they wont remove the old one
the new engine will be the default one
instead of the old engine
"Fully switching to new engine" with a thanks to phaser as if it's being senset
they mean that it will be out of beta
and will be now the default version
but they havent said old engine will be completely removed anywhere
so i still think old engine will be available
just not as the default one like it always was
@urban timber "There's still plenty of things that have to be ported 1:1 (Valkyrie Turner's VFX come ot mind just to make a quick example) but we're planning to keep supporting the current JS version for quite a bit, until at some point next year, when we'll just swap to the new engine altogether, as maintaining both versions of the game will mostly be a waste of time once they're unrecognizable from one another."
well it is sometime next year, source: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1794680?emclan=103582791471086789&emgid=3637250052875666496
cept the problem is they are recognizably different
oh so it really might get rid of it
i still have some hopes that they wont
but its quite understandable to remove it
it really could be a waste of time
personally i have no issues with the new engine
i like how its smoother and runs better
slow downs on the old engine were a BIG pain
how long has santa water been broke?
like a couple weeks maybe?
will they ever fix the director fight?
i had no problems
and i dont see that bug posted very often
the numerous problems like sigma's arcana list only showing 5 and overlapping the pause button dont bother you?
for example
nope i dont mind visual bugs that much
i still can enjoy the game on the new engine
and im not having any game breaking bugs
so its completely fine for me
and the less lag is a HUGE payoff for me
it is ultimately preference, me just sad i make all these issue reports and mostly ignored, since the parity issues do bother some people
but still we have barely any info about the next update
most of the issues could be fixed by now
and also remember rn its still in beta
no wonder there are issues
we just have to wait and see
i do hope it will be much better
remember that big list i made when pc new engine first came out? only about 25% was addressed. i can only hope they use their extra free time now for such things, yes wait and see
they also were doing things like dlc in the meantime so yeah they for sure have to use their free time
