I'd like to revive this issue as it is very annoying. If the Gold Fever arcana is picked up with Sammy, or even without it, the game becomes unplayable as the engine grinds to a halt, to less than 1 FPS.

I also had this issue but also I couldn't pick up items with him after 20 minutes. So I only had 2 arcana and the silver ring, and left half of the cross, once I started going below 1fps I would pick up a purple chest, candybox, or the gold ring and nothing would happen, it was hard to see but i think it was treated as if it was a regular chest and giving me a random upgrade for my weapons.

Yup didn't realise the new engine allowed me to level up smoother, so I was caught in bassically an infinte loop of levels
