so i just beat the 3rd crown with my corundum tank build and decided to farm blood gems sinse the threat meter maxes out when you kill a crown and not 10 mins in killing the spawning mobs my game crashes and when i log back in i see that my character is dead and i lost all my gear because my game crashed imo i dont think we should be penalized for our game crashing

I have the same issue...it's frustrating...Dying because you are not good or have bad gear is a thing ...but dying and losing gear because of a crash is just not acceptable.

Same happened to me just now, but a little worse, last night i exited the game like always through menu at hub, log in today and death screen gear loses 1 life, and screen displays my lives at 5/4 then down 4/4. just after that I join a team, kill last crown, while collecting its loot game crashes, launch it and again death screen same thing, lost 2 bars on gear and 1 holobit. 1 thing I noticed though, in that run when we spawned in, the host had all of the prisms collected, but there was 1 alive in the map, so decided to kill it for possibility of good loot, so we got 7 prisms in the end, then kill crown and crashed few seconds later. Maybe that could a trigger or part of it? Though for the death screen at login in, after a proper exit last night I just got no idea. Hope this helps, got endgame gear and that didn't feel good at all.
same issue. Get a little "Fatal Issue" pop up then the game crashes and all my gear gets hit 
Just happened right now, that "fatal issue", solo run, all prisms, farming bright blood full danger bar, which I've done coop and solo no problem, this time around I was next to crown door fighting a bit before I challenge it, Fatal window pops, relaunch game, death to gear, this time it didn't display 5/4 life downing to 4/4, it did 4/4 to 3/4.
seems crown may be a common issue for this, maybe its distance area or some other thing because I was outside this time, not collecting its loot after defeating it, also solo, and no the last crown but the 2nd of the run.
Again now on the way to 3rd crown but not near, full danger bar, after defeating 2nd crown solo.
Nope I just crash at the start of the run...and I get you I lost some GOOD holobytes, I had an unstoppable combo of holobytes...I call it The Crit Vampire 😆 Now I'm just afraid to play and risk losing these rare holobytes
I think it has to do with overall progress...the more you play the easier it can crash...When I started first playing I barely had crashes in 35 hours...Then I lost 37 hours worth of progress because of another crash at the Start up of the game...NOT FUN
This. I get "dead on login" is there to prevent people from hitting alt+f4 when they are about to lose to save thier progress and there's no way the game will distinguish crash for intentional panic alt+f4, but I'm getting afraid to play too. Btw. I have OP crit vampire/assassin one shoter build, lost most of the charges due to crashes and i dont want to lose all this
Honestly, they should get rid of the punishment entirely. Letting people cheese the game if they feel the need is honestly a fine tradeoff for not punishing people that didn't deserve it.
btw. there's a mod on nexus that prevents items form being destroyed, kills the thrill of risking at boss fights, but makes you play comfortably
Well I get that too but it's too punishing. I mean just don't register the progress of that run, NOT lose rez and gear durability

Adding more evidence to the issues, I lost two bars instead of one due losing the connection to GeforceNow during a run.
Yeh I get ya, had the same build, now just half of it cause at least I had couple duplicates. now to grind to build it again XD
Game crashing propensity is why I run the unbreakable gear mod. The biggest threat isn't in-game death, it's death by game exit
Ah yeah I get that, most roguelites are like that if not all, and HLB is even generous at that, giving 2-3 lives to gear, but it would be good if at least hyper tier weapons instead of being destroyed were actually locked behind a challenge, either killing a crown, completing a world etc. Being that weapons have many attributes/perk combinations and getting the exact 1 you lost is kinda low in probability. Would ask the same for the hyper tier holobits but that may be inching on being unreasonable cause they are single attribute items and more easily farmable, though I still would like this mechanic for the holobits . Still would be a good idea in my opinion, because it would keep to the genre, and it would still be a punishment.
Ig a way to get back weapons you lost would be great. Like for exchange for something so rare like abyss crystals, golden rations or/and cores. make it expensive af, but possible. Or some focusing mechanic, where you have propability (like 15%) for this exact weapon to drop from assassin. They're actually quite challenging without op build, so would be quite fair. Changes mood from "oh no, i lost it forever" to "damn, it will be quite a farm, but i'm determined enough to get it back". I think sort of gamemode like dungeon w/ challenging platforming and miniboss enemies only where you can get random items you lost previously would be neat too.
😆 logged in to suggest something similar but your idea sounds better, even fun new game mode, it would actually add even more to the replayability value and variation, mine was just transactional 😆 . I was about to suggest they make an insurance/protection mechanic bought with Golden Ration at high price, it protects Hyper tier weapons for 3 lives, then weapon goes back to normal, it can be re-applied at either same high price or at a +%50 its original cost but the caps there. Got too many golden rations with no use for them after maxing out Pherus skill tree so the idea popped 😆
@wet jolt Also about the crash death screen or login death screen, the game issues a notification that it crashed, it should be stored in your account memory and not punish player as a death I think thats something that could be done, some other games crash when youre receiving a reward or at cutscene after boss fight, the games detect it and store rewards etc and gives them at login. In HLB's case instead of a reward, it would actually be to not death punish a crash XD. And about the panicky disconnecters when they about to die, just load all the disconnects, legit not intended disconnects included, to a Crown boss room on login, if they were about to die and disconnected to protect gear they probably wont win against crown, hence they probably tried to cheat protect 😆 . On the other case, say I get disconnected cause of a host client bug, or any other reason, with my build, Crown would've been melted, hence proving I wasnt in a position to cheat protect gear and my disconnect was probably legit, not a purposeful disconnect cheat. I think this would be a better option than the death screen to all. That login Crown doesn't even need to give rewards it could just say something funny or stupid like " youve been judged, git gud" 'Youre worth your light". Just a list of puns from the devs to us.
