Hi, everyone! we are CashAbroad,

CashAbroad is a smart network that funds public goods using small fees from family remittances and B2B payments.

These fees are used to fund community projects like schools, hospitals, and community centers in the remittance senders' towns. We believe this approach will make a significant impact on these communities.

For this milestone, we are confidently focusing on enabling the on and off ramps with Stellar, starting with Anclap and Circle and use Soroban to enable a smart contract that will automatically distribute a percentage fee to public goods of the recipient community after each transaction. Our team is confident that this will have a significant positive impact, and we are excited to see the results.

Hi, I love to hear that you're planning to integrate WhatsApp shares and statuses. That sounds like a feature your customers will enjoy. Thanks for sharing so much of your progress, it's clear that you've been building a lot over the past year!

#

One question though: which pain point does the Soroban contract actually solve? I like the idea of letting your users contribute to community projects. But why implement it as a smart contract when the relationship between the sender and receiver is a remittance?

#

And since the focus of CashAbroad is B2B payments, how will the contribution to public goods work in that scenario? That's not clear to me from your pitch and proposal.

#

Wouldn't it be simpler to let the remittance receiver support local public goods? In my imagination the sender and receiver have a trust relation and they can communicate about this sort of thing. What am I missing?

We see that in the future a cross-border transaction in the Stellar ecosystem will be able to trigger a smart contract, and we believe that using a smart contracts to implement public goods initiatives funded by cross-border payments will give transparency, automation, and accountability; also it could potentially eliminate or minimize the need for intermediaries as well as reduce corruption.

In the future we envision more complex structures of funding that involve even more stakeholders, so for example that in a public goods initiative you can set some rules or logic in each campaign, or that you can send to one or multiple wallets depending on the type of project.

We see the participation of Companies with CashAbroad, not only implementing the payment gateway, or directly using our platform, but also collaborating and participating in initiatives.

One scenario would be that in a public good fund(Water scarcity) supported by Company “X”, the Company “X” agrees that they will 2X’s the fund after certain amount is reached.

Another scenario would be that the fund (from the cross-border payments) provides a portion of the total pool, let’s say: 12% CashAbroad, then other 38% is provided by the Government, and 50% by private companies.

Additionally the funds could be managed by local community organizations, NGOs, or social enterprises that could be accountable (these would be chosen given their track record of implementing successful projects)

Hey all, Faiyam from Blaze (https://useblaze.app) here. We love this idea of using payments as a conduit for donations. We are thinking to do something similar for our use case, p2p payments for nomads and travelers. We’d want to let users round up to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to a public good of their choice.

Could we use the cashabroad smart contract for this or would we need to roll our own?

Hi Samuel, were are you from?, let us know a little bit more. Once we have the donation in production it should be able to be everywhere, we only need to agree on with organizations for non-profit and make an agreement as a smart contract and then the transactions from an specific user will give a little donation to this organization.
