Many files deleted related to D2R-HUDLoader.exe. Possibly a false positive but many other files deleted: D2R.exe, D2R-HUDLoader.exe, D2HUD.dll, D2RHUDB.DLL, D2RLAN.resources.dll, RMDUpdater-TCP.exe, D2LAN.exe, D2LAN.dll, agent_launcher.exe
I downloaded 1.7.9 again and replaced the entire Laucher and Updater folders - game does not load

I have the exact same problem and BitDefender.

#

I redownloaded base files plus mod files

If you are able to restore them via what ever program is detecting them. you should be able to then add them to the exception list.

Mainly Windows Defender... but other programs really hate when certain files or changed/ edited/ created.

having same issue, i restored and added the exceptions but the damage is done, and freshly reinstalling you just run into the same issue sadly

Try running launcher as admin.

Well that's the way you get around the false positives for defenders. So try again.

If it still doesn't work then I don't suggest this but up to you, you might have to disable/turn off you defender when you go to play.

Did you make those files an exception? Cause what you replied to was for the other guy.

It was quite difficult because the BitDefender firewall also blocked several d2rlan-related executables and then I was getting socket errors... deleted everyting ... now I started fresh and updated the client to 1.8.1 - the antivirus was no longer triggered -- now on to re-dowloading everything -- should be done in 30 minutes

no, upon launching the game the Antivirus gets triggered again. The problem starts with d2rhud-loader.exe. This was not the case in previous versions.

Loader.exe is new to help resolve people who can never get HUD to load properly.

Add the entire folder as an exclusion not single files.
