#Steamdeck Installation issues

Hi there, I can't seem to figure out how to get D2Remodded working on my steam deck. D2R launches fine through non-steam games, but when I tried adding a new non-steam game with -mod remodded, it appears to launch the original game and tells me to sign in (I've already signed in before on the original game). I've looked through every message involving steam deck installs and couldn't find a definitive solution to get this working. I'd love to play, help would be greatly appreciated!

I second this and have had a hard time trying to get this to work as well.

Using battlenet, there's an issue of "you havn't logged in in the past 30 days" which I'm able to bypass by finding the .exe itself through battlenet. The unfortunate part about this is the launcher only works on Windows so you can't run it. I want to mentionthough, I can get D2RMM to work this way, but not RemoDDeD unfortunately

The other Issue I have is trying to run D2Rlauncher through Bottles, which has my Battlenet login screen in the constant loading screen, even with the WINE command.

I'd love to hear anyone's ideas to try next

The zip that is downloaded differs from the video. Do I still make a Mods folder and the contents of the zip in?

to be clear, if you log into battlenet, then run the mod, it doesn't matter. You will get the "haven't logged in in the past 30 days error"

Guys, we have hundreds if not thousands of people playing the mod on steamdeck. Both with or without launcher depending on their config.
All I can tell you is that you have folders or something else setup incorrectly.
Since noone has provided a single version number, screenshot, info of anything really...then you'll get just as much help from me as a response:
It works fine, fix your stuff.

I don't think it's a matter of fix our stuff, so much as in there isn't a good way to show how this could work.

Bonesy, your video doesn't actually show this working on a steamdeck first of all. The zip file you mention in the video is different than what we download and extract.

Also, to reply to your go online every 30 days: The only way to bypass this seems to be by launching a mod through battlenet. NOT just having it on in the background, but loading battlenet, then finding .exe to start the program.

You would run it like any other mod for D2R, using the special command line arguments.
-mod remodded -enablerespec

You still have not provided version number of mod, screenshot of your install directory for mod files, etc.

with a mod file

#

From what I'm gathering, the only way this has worked, is people have saved this onto SD card, then ported it over to their steamdeck

Problem A) The mod is not in the correct location. It should be inside your mods folder.
Problem B) The mod is not named correctly. It should be named simply "ReMoDDeD", but it was left with default download name.

Simply, there isn't a mod or mods folder on the steamdeck. I'm wondering if this is because of the way you get battle.net to work on a steamdeck

Also, from your zip file: there's a lot of directories that should be in the mod file that on a steamdeck you have to create:
which is it?

I'm using screenshots from my PC by the way.

This is why I made the launcher -.- Does all this stuff for you.

I'm going to give you the instructions one time, and if you still can't figure it out, then respectfully watch any of the youtube video guides me and others have made; the dozens of posts in discord explaining it, etc.
If you're not using the launcher, then it works exactly the same as every other D2R mod out there, steamdeck or not.

  • Create the mods folder if it doesn't exist.
  • Rename the folder you downloaded from "RMD-Public-Main" to "ReMoDDeD". Drag it to your mods folder.
  • Click play in BNET with arguments -mod remodded -enablerespec
#

Path will always look something like this when setup correctly

BUT!

#

I have to mention renaming "RMD-Public-Main" --> ReMoDDeD was the key here

So yeah, if you already have battlenet and D2R running on your steamdeck:

*Create a folder called "mods" under Diablo II Resurrected
*Unzip "RMD-Public-Main" in the "mods" folder
*rename "RMD-Public-Main" to "ReMoDDeD"
*add arguments -mod remodded -enablerespec to BattleNet Launcher (by adding it to steam --> properties--> target)
-->I also want to mention here that I made a copy of the original Battle.net Launcher.exe and edited the copy in order to still have access to the original.

Sweet, we made it this far, and I can't create a new character for whatever reason. I'll save this battle for another night

Thanks Bonsey for sticking it through this far

For now you can fix this known issue by browsing to: Mods/ReMoDDeD/ReMoDDeD.mpq/data/global/ui/layouts
Find the file named: characterselectpanelhd.json and rename/delete it.

In future update there will be another file you can use that will properly fix this; sorry for the hassle.

curious whether this worked for you -- renaming/removing that file didn't work for me, still just seeing my bnet characters

and here, but go to game settings, and there's a box to add additional command lines

oh the mod loads OK, it's just that I'm not seeing the ability to create offline characters (it says "OFFLINE ONLY")
