I got #1 in the Archer ECMC. Just logged in and I don't see the rewards in the mail, nor do I see the mythic in my inventory

I don't know what the expiration is on those rewards, but it's possible that you just didn't log in in time to get it. Reward e-mails are sent out the next time you log in after an event ends. If you don't log in, the reward isn't sent out. I don't think there's a single time frame for all events, so I can't tell you it's X days, but I think they vary from 3-7 days. If you contact support they may be able to grant you this one, but in the future be sure to log in within a day or 2 of the event ending if you want to be sure to claim the reward.

I feel like there are many like me who prefer to wait to log in at the start of a new ECMC

I haven't ran into this issue in the past, not sure if it's a recent regression

I'm not 100% sure the log in delay is what caused the issue this time, but I know it's possible. Is this how long you always wait? It's also possible that the expiration changed when the changed the start time of the new ECMC. They used to start on Thursday, now they start when the old one ends.

hmm I guess I haven't waited this long in a while since I usually play day 4 of clash/melee. But for the recent melee I did poorly on the first 3 days so I didn't bother playing day 4.

in the past I've definitely waited until saturday night, maybe I did just wait a little too long this time

what you said makes sense, they probably don't hand out rewards if the event is removed before ppl log in... sounds like a bug but theyll probably call it a feature

probably they should award ECMC right when the event ends - this is what they do for NRC, arena rankings, etc

Incorrect. No rewards are sent until you log in. Check the date and time on your rewards mail. It will correspond to the time you logged in, not the end time of the event.

These are all rewards from the refillable challenge. Those events end at 14:00 for me. The time on those mails are all from the time I first logged in after the event ended, which is why they're all different.
