I tried really hard to find Bandai Ichiban Kuji BA prizes back in Korea since there's always stock of those but anything BA... whew- even in Seoul was tough finding those

Anyways happy October chat... shall I tell you a little fun story of BA merch since that seems to be the new hot topic today?

Well- this was originally going to be recorded in a document but it's about that Yuuka Nendoroid...

Very late fall 24', I was sucked in crazy into the game- sure I wasn't earning gold raid trophies yet and still trying to build a solid roster.

And like many other Korean senseis, Yuuka ended up being the very favorite (although the GDD tends to be the most beloved club over there...) no surprise.

Like any wise Sensei (not financially), I wanted some merch of Blue Archive. So I headed to Seoul, specifically Hongdae because it was where all things anime including games such as BA merch could be found there. But because I was shopping in South Korea and Blue Archive's crazy popularity- I had to go in a hurry.

My first few attempts were... not very successful. I looked into Animate Hongdae- the biggest anime store. BA merch was there of course, but Abydos was the star of the show that time. Hoshino and Nonomi nendos with the usual standees and other small merch that's nice for your desk decor.

Gomen Yuuka? Gomen Yuuka indeed- I even found a Noa plushie at some later attempt!

Even the small shops did carry BA merch, but not exactly what I wanted yet. Did pickup an Aru nendo at some point which unfortunately is now in storage at my grandma's apartment. So- Seoul was simply not the answer.

Aniplus Hapjeong? Yeah, great place for retail BA merch and very exclusive Korean merchandise. But you go there because you want something most players didn't even know that existed.

So, with Seoul out of the way- my next stop was Suwon... a somewhat foolish choice. I was better off hunting some Side-F Gunpla kit at their Gundam Base if I wanted to visit Suwon because all I ever found was a Kazusa nendoroid and BA merch at their shops were almost dry.

The Yuuka nendo was a very tough one to find even compared to Aru

Yea, I know Yuuka is a very popular student so that makes sense.

I know Toki is too because on AmiAmi, they have a scale Toki figure that allows you to pose her with any of the Toki modes

It was AmiAmi exclusive and it was so popular that while preorders were suppose to last until mid-February, they had to close preorders two weeks after launch in January lol

KR popularity is so unholy if you put the top five most popular student merch in a store, Yuuk is sold out first lol

a lot of places I went to in Korea had no shortage of figures... albeit, figmas were a weird rarity.

some will sell the general selection of anime merch

some sell cards, and some others sell figures

so yeah, SK shops come in quite the variety

mine is a tough one... I have to go to the most bustling city to find anything remotely close to BA merch while Gunpla is everywhere lol

Arcie really got lucky- I visited LA for AX2025 and having a Japantown really helps a lot

Either we have some stores dedicated to general anime merch, with most of it being mainstream stuff like Jojo or Demon Slayer
