Which sets will have a R2 or R3?

I am just seeing a lot of questions on R2 and R3 on certain sets. I wanted to know what sets will be improved and when because I think I would rather purchase the later improved versions vs trying to get extras. Also, what improvements will there be?

Edit: Please read conversation below for clarity! I was using "improved" in the sense that there will be changes / another round and was not implying that older R1/R2 sets are worse in any way. Honestly asked this question because I am a poor budgeter right now and should slow down my keycap set purchasing this month! 🤍

I think improved is subjective. I know some people absolutely loved R1 of Tsukimi and it's still a beautiful set, just a different version than R2..neither is superior imo. Sorry unsolicited opinion haha

It really depends on the set you’re discussing. In regards to Sakura R1 and R2, there was a difference in packaging (bags to trays) and changes to keycap sizing

We also can’t tell what future set releases will hold, that’s up to the osume team and what they think should be improved or worked on if any

It’s been mentioned here: #1021220594848632832 message that colours will remain the same, however the stepped caps lock will not be provided with dusk and matcha R1

So it really depends what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for stepped caps lock keys then maybe wait for the next release, however if you don’t care for those, then you could pick up R1

haha don't be sorry! thanks for clarifying for everyone here. i should have just mentioned in my initial post that i would just rather wait to buy if i can count on a R2 or R3. my budgeting this month has been extremely poor. 😅

i want to add this in since i emailed CS about it. Sakura R3 (the extras restock in a couple day is for R2) will have the standard novelty kit. currently Sakura only has the hanami novelty kit with the space bar and a couple other keycaps. R3 will be getting more 1U keys with the line drawings that a lot of the newer kits have. i am going to wait for R3 since i want more 1U novelty keycaps

Thank you for sharing this info! I was supposed to get the extras restock of sakura supposedly but I guess it won’t hurt to wait a bit longer for the R3 with the new novelties. So excited!🤩

R3 will also have a stepped caps lock and coloured tilde key as well!
