Hello everyone. First time poster here. Hoping to get some thoughts and opinions on my build. I've been working on this for a while now, picking and pulling information from other posts and videos. Trying to pull out as much DPS as I can with what I have, in comparison to what others are using. Recently, I broke 200k DPS for the first time during a random ISE, and I would like to see how much further I can push that. I've put together some information about my build, based on what I see others post and often get asked about. Hopefully, this won't be too much of an information dump. lol
To start, I'm going for a broadside FAW build, using phaser beam arrays (just visual preference). Although, just to have another project I can work on, if there are any recommendations on cannons that I should use, please let me know. Also, when it comes to weapons and other equipment, something I don't often see mentioned, are there any recommendations on what the best combination of modifiers to re-engineer something to is? I recently learned about the SETS program, and used that to show my build. Assuming I saved it right, and if others use it too, I've included a copy that should show what my current modifers are.
For DPS testing, I mainly use random and solo ISE. Is there a better test than ISE? Just the one I notice most people tend to use.
I don't usually buy too many ships, but I'm holding onto 3 Z-Store tokens, 2 Premium T6 coupons - VI and VII, two Epic Phoenix Prize tokens, modules to get one Fleet ship, and 3k Lobi. If there are any recommendations on where those should go. Included should also be a copy the current ships I have.
For the heck of it, I also included a copy of my inventory, in case anyone sees something I should be using. I also have a bunch of Isomags stored on another ship, if those are still useful.
Please let me know if there is any information I've left out.
Thank you for any thoughts and recommendations you may have!

The spreadsheet didn't include T5 ships, but I also have the T5 Odyssey set, Multi-Mission Reconnaissance Explorer: Aventine Class, Multi-Mission Strategic Explorer: Rademaker Class, and Avenger Federation Battle Cruiser.
Battery Expertise, Transwarp Cooldown Reductions, Maximum Shield Capacity, Hangar Weaponry, Projectile Critical Chance, Energy Critical Chance, Accuracy Rating
Tray 10 and 9 I have on spam buttons as a start up and to keep everything up.
Tray 8 to spam for heals.
Tray 7 for speed burst.
Everything else is clickable right now.
This is very thorough for a first time builds post here. Well done.
I will review it when I have time.
Indeed very complete and fairly advanced already. Will take some time to sift through this.
On first glance:
- no firing mode extender
- no Unconventional Systems personal space trait with a Krait-like console layout
- too many battery-type devices (shared cooldown issue)
- DECS only one Disco piece (missing out on the +120% Hull Regeneration from the 2pc) - intentional?
So questions that arise for me:
- Do you have access to any of the FaW extender traits?
=> Breen's Free Fire (Breen Dread Carrier/box), Entwined Tactical Matrices (Gagarin or Qugh / Zen-Store), Redirecting Arrays (Tactical MW Cruiser or Warbird / Zen Store) - Do you have EC buidget and/or personal space trait boxes (from Infinity Lockboxes) for Unconventional Systems?
Google docs won't let me even view the sheet you linked, so can't tell what other T6 ships (for eventual relevant traits/consoles) you might have
Ditto, can't access the file.
Think I fixed that.
At a VERY first glance...lose the Kinetic Cutting Beam and the Retrofitted Assimilator.
KCB isn't doing you any favors, plus you already have a torpedo. Swap in another beam array and call it a day. Assimilator isn't buffing enough of the universals you use to be worth having either.
I'd probably use one of the event tokens to pick up the Bajoran Interceptor for DOMINO console, and slot that where Assimilator was. One of your C-store buys will need to go towards a firing mode extender as mentioned above....probably Entwined Tactical Matrices, although technically Redirecting Arrays is usable now. For your parses, with this build id still run solo ISA for now although solo ISE will be in your range if you keep progressing the build.
Main batter that I really use, is the Energy Amplifier. The others I just keep slotted and off to the side incase their needed, and can be used. Also because I don't know if there are any other better devices to use. Armor Catalyst I've had around for a while, for the emergency heal if it's up. Though if things get bad enough, to the point where I think I need to use it, I usually explode before I get it clicked, just from too much damage at one time. The Aux Battery, I just recently added because I've been seeing it recommended to keep around for use with FPNA, so just playing around with that.
D.O.M.I.N.O. is already ON the build
For that many universals, and with Universal Designs, you need Unconventional Systems w/ triggers, full stop. You could already slot a few without changing your core; swap Polarize Hull to Jam Target Sensors, swap Science Team to Tractor Beam, swap Evade Target Lock to Viral Impulse Burst. Gravity Well makes a fourth.
You'll need survivability as a makeup, you've already got Valdore which is great. Look for DPRM, if you don't have that you could slot in something like Hull Image Refractors...
Woops. Cell phone screen lol
EC I have almost 200 mil, and can easily do Tour The Galaxy, if I need to work on getting something from the exchange.
Get Unconventional Systems personal space trait
And use this bridge with it. Has 5 uncon procs which should rotate fine, given you have Boimler + Eleos and can slot Chrono-Capacitor Array for space rep traits.
I'd rather take colony TAC consoles, since the overhealing of HIR has no resistances compared to the actual heal of the Protomatter matrix Infusers.
Space rep trait Energy Refrequencer and Disco 2pc (with core/deflector) should suffice for advanced even without colony consoles
And the colony tac console also buff Phaser damage, which HIR doesn't to that extent.
Further:
I agree on the toss of the KCB, since it doesn't react to any firing modes. better get a crafted Phaser omni or one from a lockbox; will do you more favors there.
Also agreed on the extender trait:
ETM (Gagarin/Quugh) would be obvious choices, tho RA (tac MW cruisers) is actually usable now, given you get shot at during active time.
I had been using the Tilly Shields for the Disco 2 piece. But recently came across a post recommending the Khitomer Shield for it's abilities. Something new I was trying out. can always switch back to the Tilly Shields.
Keep the Khitomer shield. Additional damage adn just swap the deflector to Disco
Awesome, I'll start working on making some of those changes. The Gagarin is one of the ships I had been thinking about getting, after reading others reviews about it's ability and console. So good to see it still being recommended. I'll definitely grab it.
BTW, did my ship list start working or is it still not opening?
it's opening but ofc we can't know whether the filter we are shown is accurate. atm those 28 ships show up on your list.
since i haven't seen above discussion mentioning current ship traits yet: Unconventional Tactics and Sniper are your weakest ones atm, followed by Dimensional Modulation.
Inertial Supremacy will be a good slot, and Strike From Shadows has a similar buff like Sniper but without the anti-synergy of needing to keep away from enemies.
And ofc the firing mode extender mentioned above will be pretty important.
Oh great, thank you! I'll give those a try.
I reset the filter. I had just set it to only show the ships I have. Thought it would make it easier to see.
the filter being active does make sense. my question above was meant more in the sense of "is this list accurate?". for instance, the X2 tag could also mean that it's only showing your X2 ships, any not those you have that aren't upgraded
Oh, sorry. Yeah, it's an accurate list.
Or more accurate to say, the majority of them are at X2, aside from a few event reward ships that I haven't had interest in using or didn't seem to come with anything useful, that I still have boxed away in my bank. But I also have plenty of upgrade tokens. So just to keep it simple I marked them all at X2. So if anything were to be recommended from one of those ships I have stashed away, I can pull it out and upgrade.
i mean, if we're talking consoles and traits from those ships, i believe the important picks were already mentioned.
if you also mean ships to fly, then there are quite a few excellent platforms in your list, for various build styles. one particularly worth noting is the Stronghold, which is arguably just a straight up upgrade over the Lexington
Oh is it?
That one I haven't opened up yet. I need to pick up some more ship slots.
Was planning on doing that here soon, so I'll have to play around with it.
notably higher hull and shields, at the cost of only slightly less turn rate (but same impulse and inertia). same spec combo, but intel at LtC rank. and the main thing: 5:3 weapons, and not 4:4, so it can actually carry a fully forward facing beam build
Well, David set up a broadsider, including Kerala stuff, so 4/4 isn't that bad imho
Higher hull and shield still honna help tho
aye, definitely less of a difference than for other bulds. i'd still orefer 5:3 over 4:4 for a broadsider tho, especiallly for general scenarios - since a lot of time will be spent flying towards the next group of enemies, and during that flight they will be in ones forward arc
Good approach. Didn't really think about approach of next group but more of being "in the middle"
Yeah, there are definitely times I notice some of the aft weapons not getting used for a little bit. And can sometimes take some creative piloting to get yourself lined back up correctly, especially on a slower turning ship like this.
With a 5:3 layout, sometimes I'll fly around in the Inquiry, using a similar build. I don't have the legendary version though.
But it's still one of my favorite ships.
don't forget to use Evasive or Deuterium in those situations
yeah, also an excellent ship. esecially in advanced content (where the Type 7 pets don't make quite as much of a difference)
I know a lot of people complain about the deflector on the Inquiry, but I run with the Section 31 vanity shield, I think it actually looks better.
Just try whatever visuals (deflector, engines, shields) look best to you. Many pieces can be put into those slot, not just vanity shields.
With the Elite Type 7 Shuttles, is slotting Attack Pattern Beta indeed helpful? I was initially running them both together, but eventually came across multiple posts saying it wasn't needed. Happily go back to it if they do work together.
Also, a random question. I've come across a couple of posts recently, for FAW Beam Builds, with some people recommending adding CSV for some reason. Has anyone else seen this and know what it's about? I can't imagine why one would use a cannon ability on a beam build.
Having your own copy of APB is handy even with Type 7s due to the fact that the cooldown on the APBs from the Type 7s are longer than the player's: #mechanics-discussion message
Depending on the build, one would want CSV on a primarily FAW build for several potential reasons, not limited to but including:
- Extra trigger for Comp Rep engines
- Trigger ability for specific ship traits (e.g. Cultural Conquest, Thirst for Battle, etc.)
- Extra DEW firing mode trigger for Colony Tact Consoles.
Can only second Dila here.
Thing is, that the bridge composition might limit you there on the Lexington. Tho you could rank OSS down to 1 and take CSV1 in that slot. 🤔
