I'm still having a hard time assessing this Paladin. Its effect is great, but often can't be repeated after the first attack. Playing this card feels more like a suicide mission, unless you still have the Kiwing Juicer or the Shaman in your hand.

Yeah I think it’s similar to Tusked Extorter in that respect. If you can activate its ability and trade into another creature (which is likely, as there are only 2 cards in the set with a higher power), then that’s a win.

You can also play it and not use Fast, using it as a wall instead. And of course, if you can make it so that you can activate its ability more than once, that’s a huge win.

I agree with you both. I feel Fast makes it better than the Extorter, but it has a similar feels sometimes and it will rarely make a huge impact. Gaining 1 HP at this speed in the set is meaningful, but it's not that much. Overall I like Captain Cucodile a bit more. Flavor-wise, it's very cool tough !

I agree that I prefer captain cucodile but what do you think of this particular card as an opener?

I think it's a solid opener if you can follow-up with a choice of 2 potential blockers or killers - and at least one that is not Fast. I would never be exceedingly happy to MB it T1, since it's not that strong, but the temptation to play aggressively and be ahead 4-2 in HP is real. I don't know yet the approximative % of hands that will fall into that category, so I'm not sure how much it is situational as an opener. My guess: moderately situational, so probably in the "a good opener from time to time' tier.

I really like this card. There is something really satisfying about having a fast and attack trigger together somehow 🙂

Of course, you want to play it on a board when the opponent has no 9+ power creatures
