Summary: Tutorial was not helpful, getting challenged and playing the "real" game was fun (thanks RTo93), could become a staple game for me for me. Thanks for the beta! My name in game: H#9965

Good

  • Game started without any issues (PC, Win 10).
  • Low GPU usage, awesome for card game (there are other games where this is not the case and my fans start to run like I would play a graphics-heavy game)

Visuals

  • Shaking effect when losing life is a bit too much imho. It should at least be able to turn it off in the Settings.

Tutorial / Rules:

  • In Tutorial, the Mindbug ability is not really explained ("I used my special power"). This surprised me as I heard before that this is the key mechanic of the game and also one of the things that makes it special. Yet it is barely mentioned imho in the tutorial.
  • I suddendly lost at the end of Tutorial 2. I had lost all my creatures, it that a lose condition? I did not understand why I had lost.

Rules:

  • Is it correct that you can have more than 3 life? I had 4 at some point in the tutorial. This looks weird as the life counter visual only has three "steps". In my Dueal, I had 5 life at some point.
  • I will read the rules now from the board game, I think the included tutorial in the game is not very helpful. It explains a lot of the keywords (Frenzy etc.), but the basic concepts not enough imho (how many cards do you have, the mindbug, etc.).
  • In general, I think the game would benefit a lot from a "in-game log". For example, during my duel, my opponent suddenly lost his creature and I honestly have no idea what happened.

Questions:

  • Are the micro transactions planned (the gold currency makes me think that)? Right now it says who can earn the gold by Duels, but this screams micro transactions to me.

Thanks a lot for your valuable feedback !
to answer you:

  • Yes you can have more than 3 life, there is no limit in this game
  • there is already a poorly design partial game log when you click on life points
  • we plan to introduce transactions in future, as a free2play app, but we don't want anything that can help winning more by paying

Ah I see, thanks for the quick response. Yes I will definitely read the PDF rules before playing the next time, maybe due to playing other card games the keywords are actually the least important things to me at the start (these I can learn while playing the game, but how life, drawing, hand limit etc. works is interesting at the start imho). I will check out the log, thanks for the hint, did not see that. As for the transactions, makes sense and I understand that this also needs to be a financially sound endeavor, I just hope that it will mostly be a normal paid app (for which I personally gladly pay) and then DLCs for the expansions. Anyway, thanks and I'm looking forward to play more!

# acoustic pumice I like the shaking effect 😀

Good to hear, of course this is personal preference. I also turn off all screen shaking and flimmering in other games, so maybe I'm not used to it. However, I'm probably not the only one who does not like it (since a lot of games have such a setting). It might not even be an issue on small screens, but on a big one (I played the Desktop version) I think it would be very beneficial imho.
