Man the more I think of 2k logic the more I really hate that the devs never really played basketball. They only consider a contest when the defender can jump to get their hands as higher as the offensive players hands… but that’s not even how good defenders defend in real life. Trying to reach the hands is how you get a BLOCK. You get a contest by getting your hand in front of the offensive players face cutting off their line of vision to the hoop. I don’t have to get my hand up to your outstretched hands, my hand only has to reach the level of your face @regal thicket @left tangle

1s and 2s suck because it's just whoever starts with the ball has an INSANE advantage because offense is so broken. But I don't even really care about that as much, because I don't play those modes.

The real problem is, with shooting being as OP as it is, many people are shooting 70%+ from 3. At that point, it literally becomes disadvantageous to take 2pt shots. If you're someone who likes slashing, layups, post work, getting into the middy bag, those things are not viable ways to win currently. Because if the other team just shoots 10 more 3s than you, they will typically come out ahead

See that's the thing though, you can rim run. It's very easy. Let's say you make 90% of your shots from 2 by rim running. Let's say you're in a 5s game, and both teams end up having the same amount of shots at the end of the game, let's say 55. If one team takes 20 3pt shots (at a 70% 3pt%), and 35 2pt shots (at 90% 2pt%). Ignoring free throws, they would end the game with 106 points. The other team shoots 35 3pt shots and 20 2pt shots (at 90% 2pt%). They would only need to shoot 68% from 3 in order to win the game, and if they shot 70% from 3, they would come out with 111 points.

Since 3pt shots are almost as easy to make, but give you that extra point, the team that shoots more 3s typically wins almost every game, unless they're just really bad at shooting 3pt shots (or they turn the ball over constantly, give up offensive rebounds, or anything else that allows the other team to get extra posessions)

Forgive my little rant-I hate to say it but park players are the worst. The defense doesn’t work right. I have a 6’11 99 perimeter d 89 block 80 vertical build and the defense still don’t work. All the purple panel squads looking for easy wins on the no squad courts with 3 seven four builds and 2 teammates spamming screens and if that don’t work- don’t worry the center will hit a 35 foot fade! There simply isn’t enough servers to offset the amount of high level -exploit obsessed players.
And I’m shocked that any competitive player is ok w playing there when it’s all offense. In pro am, proving grounds and rec I’m fine- but park-it’s ruined. If you’re in the same crew you shouldnt be allowed to play no squads. What’s the point

There was nothing I or the AI could do

It is literally just broken as there is no counter play
