I think there are serious issues when it comes to catering to casuals. But I think it’s simultaneously the best AND worst 2k-
Hear me out.
I absolutely love the rythym shooting. All the different hop jumpers and go to shots. Defense (generally) works- and can be played very well with the crowd ball handler/lane cutoff features. But for the first time when the game dropped we were like “they did almost everything we asked for FINALLY “ only they stretched too far. The casual courts are a joke they last for basically one win.
IF they care so much about casuals (a very small portion of the community from what I can tell) allow the low/normal risk junk in a specific PERMANENT casual mode like make one in the theater or park that is everything below silver or something. Because for the INSANE money it costs there’s no reason to cram 2 consoles on the same servers other than saving money. The hidden benefit just so we can crossplay cuz they already always rent the cheapest servers. What has ruined the game is RNG and the allowance of different shot profiles even in the comp modes. And for casuals - not leaving skill based matchmaking In theater cuz us sweats don’t wanna wait for games was silly. Just have it search for the next closest skill level after 30 seconds. The (every year) online delay , the shooting, the RNG, the constant COST of the game. Those things ruin what could otherwise be an epic game. I’m sure I missed a lot but I love and hate it TBH

Many of you will disagree but after tirelessly working on what I call “escape sprints” and left stick dribbling I actually prefer the pro play dribbling over the previous steezo junk in all the last 2ks cuz you could just spam like crazy and it rewarded you. I love the realism and have found several moves I don’t see on any YouTube or Tik tok videos- that I can hit at a super high rate. So I dig it and I feel like a lot of people like how dribbling used to be more no? If you really figure it out you can do CRAZY stuff now but it all looks real. I got tired of the fake lookin stuff personally

Glitchy sucks. It’s fun but it’s rediculous and distracts from the game. You can still do nuts stuff but if it’s glitchy they patch it like the 720 spin move.
Only challenge is - I’ll get the rythym down and start moving super fast all over then when I’m in a online game the stress of being defended causes me to over-dribble sometimes. I love that tho it takes way more skill.

Anyone who thinks being the hero is the best way to win is delusional. Maybe in previous 2ks. But high level team ball isn’t just more fun, for the clips, the chemistry, or because it’s literally a team sport- but playing as a team is more effective. If it wasn’t than stat lines for 2k league games would look like this. Who knows tho maybe his teammates couldnt hit and just passed to him and were like “take over bro”… I’ve seen that happen on occasion. But as a PG for my main, I’m honestly super happy with a 6 point, 20 + assist game where I only shot 2x so long as I can keep my man well under 10 pts. The ability to shift to the most effective offense for the situation is important work! 2k gave us boosts to takeover scoring and more for team chemistry, and the RNG seems to reward making the right play. They all play for REP to level up but don’t realize assists are generally worth more for your team grade (the thing that determines the rep you get) than points! (Besides an alley of course) -
It’s crazy to me people don’t try to adapt a real life team mentality. Even with randoms! First thing I say every game is “I’m gonna get everyone going this quarter don’t worry about me scoring unless I’m wide or u can’t find a shot“.

Removing SBMM instead of making it search for the next available opponent after 20 seconds or something- made playing w/o a full squad miserable. I have to imagine at this point 75% of the community are sweats. So why not keep different shot profiles for “noob” modes- and keep it all one shot profile in pro am proving grounds and rec? Maybe leave the casual courts so that even bronze can play on it so you can get more than one game? It’s just crazy that every event I play if I only have one squad mate- full of the highest level players. Kinda like the purple squads on the no squad courts in the park just hunting for easy wins.

Problem with casual courts is people who are vet 3 and above hop on casual court in park in premade 3s on fully maxed out builds and play 60 overalls. Thats easiest way people play recently

I agree 100% but I don’t see it as much as I see purple SQUADS on the no squad courts. Plus it’s a lot of effort to keep a pre made cuz one good win and your bronze. Why not allow up to silver? It would help a little for the noobs idk.
Keep the normal and low risk stuff to non competitive modes would be nice. All the events and parks are loaded w ez win hunting squads cuz they crammed 2 consoles on the same server w no way to easily turn crossplay off so ppl don’t do it much. Hey 2k- take out all the RNG and leave it high risk reward. Make the “tempo” a bit more forgiving cuz the online delay makes it tough sometimes. Call it good. The explanation we got for having different profiles was that ppl complained the shooting was too hard. But there wasn’t a problem last year and we didn’t really have the stats to do the fades we can this year- this easily. So I beg to differ. Worried about the occasional casual? I can’t imagine they pay the bills- and who hasn’t played 2k? If ya wanna keep them happy, make the non comp modes a bit easier. Cuz THIS? If I miss , half the time it’s unpreventable.

Do yall agree that the park design/enviroment have gone straight downhill since 2k21?? The parks today is so unrealistic with bad colors, shadows and overall design. I dont know why i would want to play basketball in a pirate ship or a robot garage, would much more rather play in a realistic neighborhood park like its been in recent years. Do you think we will ever get realistic rebounding in 2K? There's never any 5 players swatting the ball two or three times before somebody grabs it. Never any loose ball moments at all really in 2K. Just box outs and one or two players fighting for the ball. Last night Lebron shot a 3 and got the offensive board after it got swatted and rolled to his feet.

lowkey I like proplay and stuff for offline. I think it really does help to make the players "feel" like the players that they're playing as. The issue always comes down to, in MyCareer online games, players will always find whatever the best, most broken animations and strategies are, and abuse the hell out of them. At this point, it's partially the community's fault that things are like this, due to that. That said, the game has problems every year and just keeps getting shipped out anyways. I think they made a lot of good changes this year, a lot of interesting changes (so that at least the game wasn't the same again), but they need to build the whole game from the ground up.

@regal thicket @left tangle I really hope you guys are taking feedback from people who actually play multiplayer and have respectable winning %s, it’s insane how in 2k25 the RNG in shooting allows people who can’t shoot at all to be so effective with post scorers and rim runners going to the hoop who can’t even dribble with their right stick just zig zagging with the left stick the whole way and then don’t even have to time a layup or a dunk because they can’t shoot higher than 20% on jumpshots. Make shooting great again.
