The average player complained that they couldn’t do as good as the best players due to randomized animations in 25. The defense was favored over offense, dribbling was slower, and ball handling animations were more randomized, and it was easier to get poke steals. Then you have the infamous shooting

In 26 they narrowed the gap by making it super easy to dribble (except for like 1 move), super easy to shoot, and super hard to get poke steals, which pushed the worst and best players closer each other and NARROWING the skill gap

It's expensive 🥹 I don't think it's a waste though! Depends on your style too. What works for you, might not work for others. I like my builds to have a lot of strength usually.

Honestly, strength in the long run is really only good for screens, I’ve been backed down plenty of times with people who are lighter and have lower strength then me

Strength doesn’t serve its actual purpose

Strength helps with defense if u can just stay infront of them but at the end of the day, if your defense is good, you wouldn’t need it
