He's on a good pace, but let's not act like he's 22 or anything. He's a player who's just coming into his prime, on a team with a lot of up and coming young players. To compare his leadership to MJ's is absurd, but he's a skilled scorer, a good defender, and a decent playmaker. At the rate he's going, he has a chance to be seen as a Top 10 PG, but top 5 is a hard list to break into. He'll need multiple years of dominance in the regular season, paired with a number of championships. Not saying that the Thunder don't have the potential to get there, but part of the reason that the Thunder are so good right now is because they have not only a number of draft picks (and they have a number of draft picks in recent drafts, they've done a great job of drafting), but also due to the fact that many of their players are on rookie scale contracts. When SGA and JDub and Chet all have extensions that kick in, and they can't afford this bevy of role players at their disposal, they'll have to move some guys and lose some of the players that made their team as good as it was (see the Celtics having to trade Jrue Holiday and potentially KP, Hauser, etc this offseason due to JT and JB's massive contract extensions)

TMac and Harden both had some of the most legendary seasons all time ('02-'03 for Tmac and '18-'19 for Harden), but neither had the playoff success to back it up, and while both are great, no one is saying that they're in the conversations for best SGs of all time (Harden played PG at the time but let's be real, he's a scoring combo guard like SGA), because there are guys like MJ, Kobe, Wade, etc who were consistently good for many seasons, and happened to win a few rings

The only reason I have Oscar up there is because he was able to turn it into a championship. Now you could argue, rightfully so, that he had a (admittedly second season) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to help him, but there's also the argument against Russ that, when playing with KD, or when playing with Lebron, he wasn't able to defer and/or change his playstyle enough to succeed, while that didn't stop Oscar from doing just as well for the Bucks as he had for the Royals, albeit with a reduced offensive load.
I do agree that the team sucked after Harden and KD were gone, until they brought in PG, but that was only for one season and they had other Carmelo Anthony shaped problems

I think that yeah, SGA is clearly the leader of the Thunder, none of the other guys are or likely will be superstar, MVP level players, but they've done such a good job of surrounding him with talent that helps with that, and they're a very deep team. We've seen with most of the past few champions that being deep can really help win championships. Buzzer beaters from Payton Pritchard for the Celtics last year, the hustle and effort plays from Bruce Brown and Jeff Green for the Nuggets, etc. And both the Thunder and the Pacers are proving that, in the modern NBA, it's becoming less and less about "which team has the better player" and more about "which team doesn't have the weakest link". When Brunson is out there for the Knicks, and he gets targeted because he's a smaller guy who's a mediocre defender at best, that hurts the Knicks. Or when KAT gets switched onto the perimeter, or plays drop coverage. Those are things that teams can and will target. In terms of rotational players, neither the Thunder nor the Pacers really have a lot of bad players, players who you're comfortable with exploiting, or leaving open (save for maybe Hartenstein)

I think Embiid and Jokic were both very good that season, and while I thought Jokic deserved it more, I can't hate too much on Embiid winning it, even if I hate him as a player, because he was very dominant in the regular season that year. I think the main reason Embiid even won though (apart from all the stupid racial stuff that Perkins was yapping about) was because if Jokic won 3 MVPs in a row, it'd put him in some ridiculous legacy talks that they didn't wanna put him in yet because he hadn't won a ring yet and people were questioning that, despite how insanely good Jokic is on offense, if he'd be able to win a ring despite not being a decent rim protector on the other end.
The unfortunate domino effect of that all meant that the next year, when I feel like Luka should've won the MVP (if we're talking about the best player/individual season, if we're saying best player on best team, it should've been Tatum), but they gave Jokic an MVP (he did have a very good season, don't get me wrong, but I don't feel like it was as strong as Luka's on an individual level, and he didn't have the team success as much as Tatum) because he didn't win it the year before. LEADING to this year, where the same problem happens (I feel like Jokic should've won MVP but Shai won it because something something voter fatigue for Jokic. I do think Shai had a really good season, but I feel like on an individual level, Jokic was better, Shai just looked better because he had a great team surrounding him).

I think it's still possible. I do think that being on the Lakers might help his case because of inherent Lakers bias in the media
He has a good long windows as well, due to the fact that his game isn't based off athleticism, short of a Lary Bird-esque injury, he should be able to play for quite a while coasting on his IQ and skills
