I have attended underground rap troupes, metal gigs, rock and roll shows, house music sessions all in a span of 4-5 months in Mumbai. And all of them were top notch stuff.

Delhi NCR is crap cuz they aren't lovers of music, they love the glitz and glam of the Punjabi music scene, that too the bad Punjabi music scene. Sutej Singh won't get any credibility there even though he is a Punjabi guy, simply because he plays the guitar.

#

North East is top for rock and metal, only that established bands have realised now that it is a hotbed of rock and metal. Bengaluru may get you the big bands in, but the diaspora is so large you'll get varied kinds of music lovers. But of course Bengaluru has a great rock and roll and metal scene.

Probability of finding true rock, blues and metal fans in the northeast is significantly higher. And that makes more number of local and international gigs in Gauhati/Shillong.
