torque defines the time it takes to get to that top speed aka acceleration

Right but it matters where in rpm it is available right. You don't want peak power when you are above 150

Higher torque = faster acceleration

You need good low end torque to have nice pick up otherwise you get to your top speed slower

And you need decent torque in high rpm to pull off overtakes on highway
