But how meaningful is it really, when the people you socialize with are conveniently the ones you work with, rather than people of your own choosing? And similarly, what happens if due to circumstances beyond your control (coughcovidcough), you have not been in any contact all for four months with those who previously brightened your days, one small innocous-transactional ping at a time? Video conferencing does a great job standing in for scheduled meetings and such; but not such a good job replicating the spontaneous unplanned interpersonal interactions that provide variety to an otherwise banal existence we call "the daily grind." I think its a pretty strategic move

For the context in the 2019 parliamentary election, the BJP had only 3.64%, due to his efforts BJP became a well-known party in TN went solo without AIADMK alliance which was very much needed at that time to and managed to secure 11.24% (pretty massive jump in vote share but the BJP wasn't able to win a single seat because of AIADMK captured 20.24% vote share. But they did manage to establish a staunch Hindu face in Tamil Nadu.)

1. An alliance with AIADMK – this alliance is much needed to counter the threat and to win in 2026 state election. AIADMK don’t want a hardliner Hindu as the face of their alliance, as it may hurt their voter base and it makes sense, AIADMK voters are not hardliner Hindus.

2. BJP wants to make K. Annamalai a bigger face – In the South, emotions matter a lot. People often vote for their favorite actors out of sentiment. This is not a demotion but an ultimate sacrifice. (Devendra Fadnavis’s sacrifice helped him become a bigger political figure)

3. Neutralizing the threat of Vijay Joseph – The entire BJP strategy changed with the entry of extreme leftist Vijay. His ideology is radical, and he is likely to form an alliance with a party that believes Hinduism should be eradicated. That’s why I see him as a major threat to the BJP, which relies on Hindu votes in Tamil Nadu. Both the BJP and AIADMK want to prevent Vijay from encroaching on their vote banks.
