Is there anyone who did a degree in non IT field but later transitioned to a computer science job. When I say non IT, I mean commerce and Arts.

Literally all of my colleagues came from non IT background.

Also, I never got my engineering degree in TE and I work in IT.

First step is to find any job that won't be mentally taxing, cause when transitioning they won't be able to get a good it job for atleast 5 6 months minimum.
Now they gotta learn coding, I'd say Java is a good option cause Lotta company's look for Java dev. This is for the basics of coding. Once that is done, they have to which path to take, like web dev, Android dev, data scientist etc.
I'd suggest taking a certification course in udemy, coursera etc on the path they want to go with.

if the non-IT background feels like a non-movable obstacle

  • get into some small/recently funded Indian (preferably non-Indian tech startups, a lot of them are based in Germany, Poland, and Sweden)
  • staying there for 8 months year is easy if your skills are good enough and you know how to learn new things quickly
  • now, join a smaller company for another year, get some experience to be put on your resume
  • Join some big well-known place?

I don't think background will matter much now, of course, all while this you need to be very good at what you do and excel at your technical skills

#

added with some good communication style, some corporate lingo bullshitting around sprinkled with lies on resume (I do no recommend but it is what it is) will do the job

and of course, I'm not credible enough to be advising on this So up to you to follow anything from it
