Hi everyone!

You may have seen me post before about my website, but this is a different ask!

As part of wanting to make my website https://letstalklgbtqia.com the queer communities resource, I'm looking to add an A-Z guide on Queer/LGBTQIA+ terms.

For example:
Gay - A male who finds attraction to the same sex.
Lesbian - A female who finds attraction to the same sex.
Hankerchief Code - A colour system whereby using a coloured hanky in the back pocket of a gay man can indicate a kink/fetish they are interested in.

My website is completely community-run, so none of the information on there is added by AI and therefore I'm asking for everyones help!

What terms have you come across that may not be well-known, or you've only recently found out? I'll even take simple ones to ensure everything is covered! I don't want to miss anything or misrepresent a part of the community I don't identify as.

Thanks all ❤️

This is non-paid

Secondly, as we grow, we want to enable new people to find us via business cards at Queer venues and Events.
We're looking to fund this through donations and put this into a Queer run business to help us print these.

This will of course be paid as and when we get donations through our Ko-Fi.
EG. someone would "buy" a 20 pack of our Business Cards which we would then forward on to you to print and send off to the relevent location.

Please let me know below about either of these!

Ah! Would you like to use my alphabet book? I do sell it on my Kofi shop but I'm willing to send it to you so people have access to resources.

Just wanted to say this is still open for further collaboration and the request for queer ran printers!

this isn’t quite what you asked for but i just want to mention that even your example definitions are really cisnormative and outdated. e.g. defining gay and lesbian as attraction to a certain “sex” as opposed to the more accurate term “gender.” and lesbians are not only women, nonbinary people can also be lesbians, and lesbian attraction includes nonbinary people.

# arctic mauve this isn’t quite what you asked for but i just want to mention that even your ex...

adding to that-
thats not entirely true. sex is your biological gender, whereas gender is the social one. Both are still used, depending on the context.
The term gay is quite open and used differently everywhere. Some cling to the definition that gay only means homosexual, others include enbies too. Others proposed the term "achillean" for an umbrella term that includes all genders, same as with lesbian and sapphic.
Just like bisexual doesnt have a strict definition. And pretty much any umbrella term.

there is! i'm using it and others have used it :3
biological gender = sex = male, female, intersex
gender = man, woman, nonbinary etc.
Namespending said "male" in their OP so therefore the definition aint wrong. Can be viewed as outdated but not necessarily. Enbies arent excluded when you say that either

it’s a completely different situation.
It's not at all, the point is that everyone has different definitions and theres no official one. You also have to keep in mind that every culture has different gender structures and views on relationships, where terms change, some may get lost in translation. Theres no fix "it is like that". That goes for all letters and terms. 🤷

If I'm correct (again, I do not identify this way, and we're all learning as we grow and meet new people and understandings) but I believe this is the way 2 spirit people also see Gender and Sex?

This is why I'm looking to build a community based library of terms and stories as these are all definitions and meaning we identify differently with 😌
