In-Game Community/World Events or Is Discord Needed?

My friend doesn't want to use Discord, but she wants to get the game when it releases on Switch. Will there be plans for well-communicated community events or world events in-game or will she need to be a part of the Discord to participate or know details about these events? And will there be optional voice chat for Steam and Switch?

(If this is too close to gameplay related, I apologize. and where should I ask these questions instead?)

The game is planned to release on the Nintendo Switch and yes, there will be world events in the game and your friend won’t have to be a part of Discord if she doesn’t want to. As for voice chat, yes this should be optional.
