#Inventory System

Especially the chest is way to much limited, I like to horde materials and therefore also organize the chests around it. But I really wann put more than on stack into a chest,
Inventory System
I also love hoarding mats. I never pass up anything that I might have a use for later. Would love for a "late game" type mass storage. Something like an ME system in modded Minecraft.
Same with the above! 20 item limit is way too low, especially when we'll be contributing lots of materials. We should be able to stockpile in our chests
Also if there could be a way to send to your storage when you’re in “town” that way you don’t have to go back and forth. Unless I just haven’t unlocked that feature yet since I’m still in the early game. I just love hoarding mats as well
I see there's a storage upgrade in the progression menu so it looks like we just have to play more guys!
My Island home keeps disapearing and I'm falling and reappearing, I have to keep shutting down my computer often.
Yes, I just did that and it works but the chest only takes a stack of 20 sadly so that doesn’t affect the chests I believe. That I could find at least
I meant here in the progressions
Looks like levels 6 and 16 expand chests to hold more storage
Oop yeah you found it, I did not look at that part. Thank you!!!! Seriously saved me 😂
I was definitely surprised that you can place multiple storage bins, but they don't actually add more storage per unit
it'd be nice to know that before crafting more, heh
Also -- really big one, would LOVE an all items tab in the inventory! esp for quick stashing in chests, it's so helpful. I capped on my crops and was super confused about why they weren't being stored until I realized you have to individually go to that tab.
I really enjoy that I can increase the stack sizes in my inventory I think that’s lovely. I think it’s a lot nicer than just having a stagnant stack size.
But I really don’t like what’s changed from the alpha with chests. I’m not sure what exactly happened but chests all sharing the same inventory and not being able to hold multiple stacks is kind of heartbreaking. In a game so reliant on crafting and having the necessary resources not being able to store multiple stacks is terrible. It greatly lessens my motivation to actually go around and gather stuff- which in turn decreases the desire to craft and decorate because I can make like 3 things then have to go gather again.
I’m a person who really likes to have an organized storage space. Having a chest for seeds, having a chest for metals, having one for wood, etc and not being able to do that also just feels bad.
I think keeping the skills expanded chests is fine and expanding the stack size each chest can hold is fine and it would then still limit how much can go in a chest, but it needs to allow more than a single stack per chest. The way it is right now feels harshly limiting.
Being able to craft directly from your chests is absolutely amazing. It’s a feature a lot of games don’t have for some reason and I thank you for adding it
This may be me just not seeing something or understanding something but is there any reason for the solar panels to have to go through 2 interacts to charge the battery? I think the screen with the info is very nice but I feel like with how much you rely on power having a quick charge button on your generators where you don’t need to open the screen then press the charge button would save lots of time and make things less tedious.
is it supposed to be like when placing 2 storage containers, they show the same inventory? so when 1 is full, the other is full as well? so no additional storage? Would like to have like more storage containers so I can actually store more items when the cap is reached
The build menu should take you back to exact same item tab after placing an item. Pressing B, swapping to the farm plot tab, placing one down and it refreshing is tedious UX.
I seem to be the minority opinion in this thread but I actually do like that the storage containers share inventory and don't feel a need to have a ton of chests to sort my items because of the sorted tabs. It's nice not to have to run around between chests to get what i need/put things away. And loving that you can craft from the chests as well! However, i do agree that placing down additional chests (or upgrading chests somehow) should allow us to stack additional items/store more.
I will also say, I am actually appreciating the limited storage in a way- it's encouraging me to put extras into the shipment container or refine materials, rather than hold onto things I don't necessarily need/can easily collect more of. But, I totally see how others might not feel the same way, and it would still be nice to be able to upgrade the storage amount to some degree so the resource loop doesn't feel quite so restrictive/tedious! :)
Storage capacity can be upgraded once you get high enough in crafting proficiency! Though since it’s crafting, it means you’re forced to work with the limits for a while before you’re able to expand. I agree that I wish the initial storage capacity was higher, and upgrading was more of a perk for hoarders.
I have to admit the shared storage has grown on me, to where I moved my extra chest across my lawn so I can easily dump stuff after farming or refining materials, or just run up to my plot with foraged stuff. BUT I would still like it if we either were told upfront that storage was shared, or if crafting extra units could somehow expand capacity even if they’re not individual storage units. The latter option is probably less realistic but there’s just a lot of mental friction when you realize that your “second chest” is just… a second access point
yeah i can agree with that! some clarity on that would certainly help :)
🎉 Ability for me to craft with items that are in my storage without me having to remove them from my storage - chef’s kiss!
Usability opportunity Add a “New item” indicator on the categories of items, customizations etc. so a player can easily identify where new items are located

The inventory does not allow us to store seeds in our home storage, which in consequence doesn’t allow us to pull seeds to share with our friends with the friends / neighbors box.
-
It feels punishing and very limited when you start without upgrades. Instead of capping items to 20,40,etc. why not simply extend the amount of slots and stack up to 500 or even 999 on one slot? These kind of games are about gathering, crafting, giving/gifting/completing challenges. The current inventory system limits that a lot. More often than not you’ll end up dropping materials or refining when you don’t have another option but to use the raw materials. I understand this is to avoid hoarding, but what’s the damage of hoarding? It’s not like someone else has an advantage over others for hoarding materials/seeds/crops/etc. let people stack without limiting it to the current amounts.

Since we’re very often outside of our house, we end up going to the house to quickly store items. It’d be better if we were able to send our materials directly to the storage regardless of where we are, this will allow people to stop micromanaging inventory and focus on playing/gathering. Guild Wars 2 and I believe Palia allow this.
-
We need an easier way to send items between friends. I can’t give my friend seeds so I ended up allowing my friend to use my seed maker. I can already see this in some cases would cause more problems than solutions.

Storage boxes do not extend storage limit, which is usually what people expect to achieve when adding more than one chest. I’m not sure the current description explains how storage boxes work. Making it clear that they do not extend storage capacity would solve many disappointments, as this is usually the functionality in other games and its “expected” by the player. Later on you realize you can have one box inside and one outside for easy access, however that’s not the “original” intention people usually have when crafting more than one storage box.
It would be great to have additional sorting options also and not just alphabetically! I would especially be interested in like a quanitity sort so you can quickly see which items are running low and can go farm for those
I'd love for chests at home to be able to stock more piles of the same materials 😍 also a separate storage for seeds would be awesome 😉
Oh and the post pox in front of the house could be used to exchange gifts and messages between friends, even if they're not online.
agree! things like sort by type, sort by quantity, sort by rarity, sort by last acquired
Agree with number 5, i actually also made another storage box thinking I could store the rest there, but got surprised that it’s sharing inventory
I haven’t made a chest yet. But I feel for a starter storage that being able to stack 100 of each item would be fair. Then once you can increase it maybe it goes to 200 of each or maybe 500 of each since I know people love to hoard items in these kinds of games. I do love that the backpack automatically stores items into individual slots making it much easier to find them to see if they are needed. I also like the progression of needing permits to expand the size. I can collect 20 of the resources before needing to sell, or craft things.
Since I haven’t crafted storage yet I can’t speak on how that works. But from prior testing I know each chest was giving more storage. So 20 became 40. I still think most cozy gamers would be happier if they just had one chest for storage and then could get permits to expand it. That way their plots and houses aren’t cluttered with chests.
Could have the starter chest be able to hold a stack of every item in game, and upgrading it expands the stack size. I like to hoard everything I see. So then when I go back to base, I can craft a bunch of stuff I need for various quests, etc.
Would love a way to lock items in my backpack, so I don't drop them off every time I use the hotkey for offloading/quick-stacking into the chest. (for things like repair kits or quest items etc)
Yeah, shift clicking an item in the inventory to lock it would be a nice touch.
A hot bar would be nice, so I can use numbers to switch between tools, instead of the pie menu that I find tedious.
I couldn't even tell what it was sorting by this whole time, bc i couldnt see any label saying "alphabetical" etc, i just kept clicking it trying to figure out what it was 😭
Also definitely would appreciate hover labels/info for items, i need this so badly
I'm used to shift-clicking in games as a transfer all key (which is what they have, i believe), but yeah hotkeys for everything yes please.
ohmydays yeah the tool wheel is a huge struggle for me, it'd cool as an option (maybe with bigger UI/area so it doesn't have to be so precise for each tool?) but i want my scrollable hotbar/toolbar with top-row number key options.
i wish the storage stack amount was a bit higher. i like to run out and grind for stuff for a while before progressing story tasks so i have most of the stuff ready.
I dont understand why some items stack to 20 but some dont - like the clovers seem to stack different amounts in the storage.
i am glad i read this and didnt waste time making another chest for more storage.
It would be helpful if there was a distinction while crafting if it’s using materials directly from your backpack vs. storage. Like at least a separate little symbol and number for how much material is left in your backpack and storage whenever you craft/cook/refine/etc.
Crafting should also use materials from your backpack first before pulling from storage. (Or a toggle to select if you want to use backpack materials or storage for whatever you’re crafting.)
It would make a bit more sense if the capacity got larger for each personal storage chest you crafted. Though I understand wanting to keep that as a progression upgrade.
In the share box, you should be able to specify/toggle if you’re moving items from your backpack or storage.
I agree with the feedback that the storage chests are too limited. Especially considering some very early crafting recipes already need 10 of an item, which ends up leading to a lot of switching between home and other places, which leads to loading screens.
I would love to have different chests at home carry different things. It would be good to have one chest where I know I can find all the food items, and other for refined materials for example.
I wish the chests didn't have a limit to how many of one item you can keep in there. Most games it stacks to 999 and then starts a new stack.
Same as above, I do feel like having a limit on how many item you can keep is a disadvantage for players as we mainly need materials for the crafts, but even for those who like to collect and farm! It would be better if the limit can be way higher!
Ive got a few thoughts:
-
Chests should allow multiple stacks of items
-
Chest stack limits should be higher or at least upgradeable like inventory stacks. Id argue its more important your chests be able to hold more per stack
-
Allow multiple chests. Please. I was already struggling to find items I wanted from one big chest pool, I much prefer organizing on my own amongst multiple chests
-
For those that enjoy having a chest that houses what they need no matter where its placed (ie Minecraft Ender Chest), have a different chest type that functions like the one we have now
-
be cool to have a sorting system; by type, quantity, last added.
-
more progression upgrades for inventory/stack size.
-
have the ability to view all, instead of individual tabs.
-
when crafting, cooking etc; be able to choose to either use backpack resources or chest resources.
-
be able to place food or items straight from your backpack.
Backpack
- Needs a dropdown for sorting items. Especially the outfit fragments, they are sets but the pieces are all over the place.
- Change the early progression perk value of item addition from + 10 to maybe +15. Then additional +5 to existing levels on further perks. Raising the item limit to 100 or more would be absurd as it defeats the purpose of moving around to grind. I honestly have no problems with storage now that I reached enough proficiency for perk upgrades.
- Another button when dropping items to set X amount of items to drop rather than just drop 1 or drop all.
- Clothes tab should also be in here, not just fragments.
- Item lock so it wouldn't be taken out from your backpack.
Chests
- Sorting same as backpack.
- Let it also hold clothes, why are we only letting clothes go in the shared bins?
- Chest appearance customization
- Retrieve all button. Backpack has stash all but chest doesn't have retrieve all.
- 1 storage chest per map would be appreciated. I disagree with a portable one that you can access anytime.
Shared bin
- Change the permission label of the shared bin to "shared bin" instead of "storage" to avoid confusion. People think it's chest access.
- Bin history page with player name & item taken out.
When adding seeds to your tool wheel, the menu closes out each time a new seed is selected. It would be a better experience to simply equip a seed and allow the selection menu to stay open so you can select a new item.
i think the 100 limit on "other" placeable objects is going to be really limiting. i've kind of done a basic garden layout, and i've already breached 60 items on my island... and with the large size island, there's no way i'll be able to decorate the whole island with 100 items, and that's not even including inside the house.
I find the shared bin very frustrating. i only want to put in the spare items i am carrying that wouldnt fit in my storage - but when i open it it shows the all the amount i have of any item - storage and inventory combined - and i can not understand what is determining the order it has put the items in. the chest storage at least has sections and the items are in the order i added them. The Shared Bin is a mystery. lol.
It would have been nice to know that you can craft another chest, but that it will not make the storage capacity bigger. It is nice to have a chest in my house as well as outside, but still preferred to know beforehand
- Search function or a filter for blueprints, shop, inventory, cooking station, collection, etc -- the current list of items is too overwhelming for there to be no reliable search filter function
- Allow players to select certain items to be excluded from "Store All" option, e.g. Repair Kits won't work from the storage so it doesn't make sense to be stored with Store All.
- Unlocking holding 2nd stack (or more) of each item further into proficiency would be great, alongside unlocking 2nd stack (or more) of storage when 2nd storage is crafted. If attempting to control hoarding issues, perhaps locking such options behind proficiency would be viable.
- There should be a central way to see all owned items in the main inventory without navigating to each individual tab (or onboard users and inform them about the existence of multiple tabs) as it makes more sense for everything to be visible from 1 menu. This would solve a lot of confusion regarding the Toy Ball's location and purchased seeds being "missing" as it makes more sense to be in the inventory as well.
1 . For the tool wheel, please have the option to assign shortcut key to access tools instead of just relying on the R button to open the tools wheel, or have more than 2 tools to cycle through the using the R button
-
A search function for the inventory, chest, everything basically :)
-
Expand the chest capacity
When I am buying seeds from Hazel I’d like to be able to see how many of the seeds I have and crops already. Same with crafting/processing
As mentioned above, more chest storage early on. I know at lvl 6 we get 20 more items to hold in the chest, but that is way too late. I would rather start with 40, and work my way up from there.
I got sometimes super frustrated with the amount of times I had to run back and forth to loftia to take the train to hanging gardens or gridfall to then go back home, and having to do that again because I didn't have enough items in hand or the chest. When decorating or crafting we need a lot of a singular item and with the loading screens it got really frustrating. I would say this is more of a QOL kinda thing. Knowing Loftia is all about sustainability, so it doesn't make sense to store 200 of one item, but a bit more breathing room would be nice. It shouldn't get annoying!
Sorting would be a nice addition, especially the outfit pieces or "crafted" vs raw materials. For the outfits the sets, they're all over the place.
A "stash all" button, one click and the inventory gets emptied into the chest.
I may be in a minority of opinion here but I think not being able to hoard much IS the purpose of Loftia. We’re suppose to share and work together and help one another and the world we share in game. So to be able to just stack and stack and stack seems to go against the nature of the game.
Now I do actually love the shared Chest System because it’s super helpful if you have a chest inside your house but need access with one outside your house etc, but it would be nice to be able to toggle or designate what you want that chest to do, do you want it to be shared inventory or do you want it to be designated to other items or storage.
My biggest complaint with storage right now is how frustrating it is to organize, we don’t have proper working filters or search that actually help. And for example when you’re trying to fill your Share Box why is it so frustrating to do so? The items constantly move positions on you and they won’t stay still. Also a 10 limit for a Share Box is super annoying, but I get that maybe the reason is others are suppose to do their share to progress their game progress too?
It’s a balance, but I do think there reasons why certain things are as they are but we can still have features that could take away a lot of frustrations. This game is suppose to be a slower paced, shared community experience and I get that but with that then comes the need for a lot better quality of life features.
