is it salvia? I don't recognise the leaves.
Google says in English it is called chaste tree?
robbed the main aloe of her babies
small white pot is for my mom
hope they thrive
I went to google how to get them out as they seemed attached to the mother plant (you can cut them loose btw, just make sure they have roots first)
And apparently they're also called pups
We have a aloe tree instead of the normal thick plant and it’s going wild
We have that one cactus that doesn’t have roots and is like just doing stuff
How does this work?
spite
Oh Little Aloe puppies😂
cactusi are fueled by spite
It’s like fingers, and you can just easily take them off. It’s kinda funny
My bfs mom has a whole basket full, and we robbed some there
we really are plant baby robbers
In the plant centers I always look for loose leaves or so that I can take with me an propagate
Oh I m trying out the string watering method on two new plants I got
soo pretty!
My gf and I like to name our plants.. cause why not. We've named this one Sylus 😅🤣, if you play love and deepspace you'll know who that is.
My plants all have names xD
I do not but i can see it. sylus seems like a dark and mysterious and silghtly spooky name
mine do not. they're lucky to be alive at all XD
Lol your plants sitting on the shelf in fear 🤣
Some of my plants don't have names.. just cause I can't think of any.. like my bonsai trees... They're just existing
I have a scindapsus pictus / oriental tiger plant named mittens
Only one that has a name
Because I'm uncreative
my bonsai are rosie the coastal rosemary and serissa.. the serissa. I wasn't very imaginative with them. xD
they're looking perfect, just gorgeous. ✨
Thank yoooou <3
My plants I planted a few years ago before moving out of the nest. Still going strong~
End of season hydrangeas... They looking a little under saturated 😅
lovely, I hope you enjoyed your visit "back home".
I'm excited because winter is ending soon, yesterday and today the sun was actually warm, so I can start pruning and ready for repotting.

okay my thirps infestation is growing. i am literally loosing a plant rn because of it.....i m getting predatory mites and insecticide
Yikes D:
I wish it grew quicker 😭 its such a cute plant but im hoping itll eventually drape down
it's really pretty.
First harvest! Planning to make a pie and maybe jam when I get more
Took some last pictures before the blooming is completely over :‘)
still serving the bees! so pretty!
can you cut & dry them out at this point before it wilts, and use some parts?
we got lots of bees on the flowers, they were really happy with it! :D
I dont know actually if i could use parts :o
LOVE your trandescantia!! The pink and green hues 😍
im very happy with it! admittedly this is my second attwmpt at having one, this one lived but somehow despite not doing anything different, the first one died within a month
this one is at least growing
Aw second time the charm! I find some of my propogated trandescantia dont succeed as well others so i feel they are a picky plant too. =/
oh i have a few too! they are pretty hardy and want to stay alive despite my forgetfulness XD but they are sooo fragile even when healthy
Right? Lol i water once a week and sometimes i forget to so they surprise me every time! 😆
I had to basically chop all the leaves off my oxalis... Because of a very bad scale infestation
It is alive!!!!
On another note the orchid is growing more blooms
I need you guys expertise
Most of these plants have suffered from the move. They had thirps all over them but the predators that I bought seem to do their job now. In the beginning this window sill didnt get direct sun but now with winter coming the sun hits at a different angle. Technically you are not supposed to give alocasias direct sun for a whole day but I heard people that said it was fine for them. Now I dont know if what I am seeing with my plants is from the infestation I had plus the moving and it takes time to recover or underwatering and too much sun.
The reason why I considered underwatering is because the plant in the front is doing great. Until yesterday it also stood more in the middle so really in direct sin but her roots have grown into the water below. So she def is well hydrated and had so signs of anything.
What do you think is causing them to look the way they look and any suggestions other than moving them if its the sun?
The symptoms basically are strong drooping and therefore curvature of the leafs with crispy and whitening leaves. And then ofc thirps marks 😅
i have all my plants out of direct sun, like completely. Its light but no sun. and they seem to prefer that over more light, so maybe try putting them somewhere else and see what happens
you're doing wonderfully with that orchid. I stubbornly kept my second attempt at moth orchid outside and it too died. I'll have to bring my next one indoors.
Yeah I do know that and I saw people who made direct sun work so I'd prefer trying to find solutions for that first as I wouldnt know where to put them without having them in low light. Its the only south facing window i have and the tv corner is already cramped xD
Yeah orchids can definitely be finicky. I honestly don't know how this orchid is doing so well.. I feel like I neglect it a lot 😅
some plants go better with a little less water attention.
how long since they've been moved? I typically don't worry too much after a move because i expect them to be dramatic and even lose leaves due to environment change.
I think 2 months
ahh yeah then i'd say they're getting too much sun. the leaves look to be cripsing and dying off. brown crisp from the edge is typically sun or dehydration related. brown crisp from the middle of the leaves going out is usually fertilizer/chemical burn. brown mushy is typically too much water or root rot issues.
The plant mom gave me earlier this year has now almost reached the floor, help
Should I trim it? Or?
yes!!! trim, propogate, and put it back in the pot! that's how you make super full hanging plants!
gorgeous! I have some of those in hybrids, so pretty.
I agree trim and put the trimming back in the pot~
I just wanted to show them, we got them for really cheap in the supermarket and they are slaying
Ohh I love the first one, so pretty
i wish i wouldnt have lost the first one 😅 she is sooo prety
i like that they arent the most expensive plants but suuper pretty
i got a huge one for 30 euros i think
That's a pretty good deal I think 😮
I love how there are so many types ~
also insane how big they can get..this is still small compared to how huge their leaves could actually be
Oh yeah they can get some huge leaves!
I got them all for 5€ xD
And they are growing and growing
So heavy they need to be in stone pots or similar
there's hybrids?
I will definitely! once it reaches the floor I shall try
From what I know those aren’t hybrids, there are just some different versions
the one mom gave us looks like either the normal or the silver glory one, I cant tell
I think it is silver glory?
left is normal, right is silver glory
this is ours
TiL
i got some succulents. any tips for raising(?) them?
the person told me they need sunlight but 2 hours (8 hours) is fine… and i dont need to water them often, but how often is often XD
water them when they start to look a little raisiny. it's easy to overwater succulents. place in bright but indirect light. so near a window's light but not on the windowsill and if you have a transparent curtain that would be good. rotate every so often cause they'll wanna point towards the light. if they get "leggy" meaning they have more stem than leaves, you'll wanna move them a bit closer to light cause they're stretching for light. you can cut it off and replant stuff.
the loftia challenge has really helped me nurse Ms. Brandy back to where she should be !
i want to repot but i’m gonna wait for spring
oh she's beautiful!!! the variegation is spectacular!
ohhh i see. also raisiny as in the dry look of raisins right?
also, would it be okay to not replant them?
yeah starting to look wrinkly. if they're like that and hard, it means very dry. but also, the bottom leaves will naturally die off and shrivel too so look at the plant as a whole
should be fine!
okayy
thank you sai
the person selling them sells every thursday, so if they die i can just buy new ones LOL
but i will take good care of them!
if it looks like it's starting to die, take any healthy leaves left and pluck them off to propogate and make new babies.
wow that’s so cool
thank you again
there are 2 methods. you can just plop them on some soil and water them. make sure the soil stays damp but not soaked.
there's also the water method. easiest i've found is waterbottle. take a waterbottle and cut holes large enough to stick the leaves in about half way. fill with water just enough so it doesn't touch the leaves and the humidity will help grow roots
taking notes
havent watered my succulent since buying it 3 months ago, it grew, basically if you forget them sometimes, they do better
it'll get water this weekend
now the real issue is these ones:
we thought they would die but they havent completely
the one in the left pic somehow grew some baby leafs
the right pic one keeps trying to grow new leaves but they all die
they get the same water
they're in a hallway with a giant ass window in front, but further down so they don't get 100% full sunlight directly
the other plants in our house all live or die off if we do somehting wrong
these are just half sad and pathethic
we also got arthurium feed
though we didnt really fertilize it often as it says arthuriums are sentitive
woah! that’s actually funny XD i didnt think plants could go that long without watering 😳
i know nothing about plants, but i’m cheering for them to live
@hoary hemlock also sometimes plants is a matter of trial and error, this is plant nr 3 in this place and pot.
It's not grown twice the size in width and it is almost a year old.
The two plants before this lasted 1-2 months
(love calathea)
i’ll keep that in mind!
also i like that plant
pretty
Got some hedgie safe plants to make nori a bioactive enclosure. She liked the basic version a lot.
Also ordered clover seed and pink muhly grass seed. I need to get some bugs now for it. My shopping is all over the place lol
the seatbelt. x3
(I do that too)
gotta keep them from toppling over XD
Decided to do late night gardening and start setting up the bio enclosure! Late night meaning started close to midnight and finished around 1a. Gotta let the plants, bugs, and everything else acclimate before Nori-zilla arrives.
I need to find my grow lights and set up the heater position though. Those white pick things are springtails (we hope)
We uh, replaced the half ded plants... But the orchid was too pretty to pass yet it is scary since I know they're difficult
Spider plants though are supposedly easy and my boyfriend liked these (and actually picked them without knowing what they were)
Fingers crossed
Its been a struggle to find plants that thrive, the two arthuriums here were the last few that just, didn't work out somehow
Boyfriend wanted hanging coconut planters he saw at the hardware store last time,
I spotted a hoya and I've been wanting to try one so that one was coming with me, boyfriend picked the other one
Bonus that we finally got the hanging rails hanging
The coconut planters are super cute! Of course the plants are always cute ❤️
Ikr!!
Boyfriend loved them and I also liked them. It's just a bonus my boyfriend was so enthusiastic about them in the first place
I also got some rope to try macrame a holder for a smaller version of the pots we have on the kitchen bar counter
But that's a project for after my other chrochet wips
i really need some attachment so i can have hanging plants 🥲
My wonderful boyfriend came up with the idea (based on my aunt having pots hanging from her curtain rail)
To hang a curtail rail in front of the roller blinds, with the sole function to act as a hanging rail for decor
I'm also working on a Christmas star crochet mandala thing to hang in the third window
thats pretty cool! i considered to kinda get a vertical stand that needs no drilling. just have to make the decision at some point
or I could find a tiny one to squeeze between the window sill and the wall part that frames the window :o
You could say my boyfriends hobby is handywork.. almost...
He has a garage full of tools and he's super handy
it would be pretty cool if we had a garage
so far i just squeezed him into the cellar so i dont suffocate in the office XD
The Hoya I got is getting its first new leaves which is nice as I've been wanting this plant for a while and I'm happy its not dying/struggling in the more sunny window despite it being recommended to not but it in full sun.. fingers crossed it won't have issues in spring/summer
bebe
I feel like Hoya (at least the few I've got) take ages to really root into their pots before putting any energy into new growth and then they take off. No joke, my carnosa cutting took over a year to root before it gave me any new growth 😂
I just figured out my one cactus is a stapelia, and it started blooming now, but the blooms smell rotten etc really bad to get flys near
That reminds me of that one plant in Animal Crossing
Wild how alien some plants can look
And how they can smell, you don’t smell it in the room, only if you are close and it smells so bad rotten
yep that's definitely planning to consume you in your sleep.
rafflesia. they stink irl too.
-# they mimic the smell of ||rotting flesh|| to draw flies, etc, for nutrients.
Ah yes that one
Love your pots!
Ty ty
moth orchids can be very fussy. I've lost two — you're doing really well!
I have the issue that we bought an orchid two months or so ago??? and boyfried wanted it in soil, so we did buy special orchid soil, added some tree bark extra, and these clay balls in the bottom for drainage
I read how much water it needs if you use soil instead, but now one spot on top of the soil looks moldy ;v;
its like a spot the size of a small coin
I feel like its the spot my boyfriend pours in, as its only a small spot on the front side of the plant between the leaves
they're very sensitive to overwatering and can get root rot. so it might need just a bit less watering, or something else draining through the soil or top soil perhaps? (like perlite mixed in the soil is good)
I personally use a soil free aroid plant mix for my orchid.. but I'm extra lol
no wonder its so happy.
Haha yeah it's a spoiled orchid
honestly, I'm 100% trying that next time, cause I don't wanna lose another one. it's special to me for reasons. :>
and both times, the soil was the problem, even with perlite, care, etc.
I didn't even know you could go soil free! I'm all over that.
This is what I use
tyy!
My orchid and my aroids use this mix lol
good to know for when I repot my other orchid too (cymbidium tracyanum). it's good atm, but might need freshening next year.
Yeah I definitely recommend it~
Also nice cause it decreases the fungus gnat situation
my orchids have been getting so angry in this climate that can't make its mind up.
good bonus.
Oh yeah definitely the humidity is up and down... I do also keep my orchid in a mini green house that is easier for me to control the humidity of
I'm being dramatic about the tracyanum, it's very fine. but she gets leaf colourations this year, even with the same care as always.
So ... Another thing it's spoiled with. But the first two blooms it was outside xD
I need a little greenhouse.
Ikea has one that works nicely~
paltere while I kinda have you here, re, orchids. how exactly do you handle your moth orchid once its done blooming?
I followed general instructions but that's the point they both gave up.
or did I leave it too late to remove perhaps
I got this
but added some of this
and this
but I think I might do more research and repot it if it suffers a bit more
like an indoor one?
I'll prob tend towards outdoor.
the thing is, the orchid looks healthy, its just the one spot where my boyfriend pours the water in that is moldy
its still blooming
maybe he could try watering around different spots so as not to oversaturate that bit of soil?
no droopy or discoloured leaves, no falling flowers
that is an idea and im stupid
not at all!
it's only a thought because I know how fussy some of my pots are with the soil parts.
ikea has this one
eg, my blackberries always grow freaking moss in this one spot. they get spray watered eveningly so idek.
ou I'll check if they have that one in aus.
Once all the blooms are done I just snip the flower stem as close to the base as possible. And then the wait for the next Bloom begins
ok I'm good then. @@ just the other issues that did it ig.
thanks~
Best of luck on the next orchids~
This is exactly what I have but in white 🤣
I thought that looked like yours tbh.
Tbh I'm a pretty hands off plant parent. I do have a schedule for watering and fertilizing. But other than a few plants. Every other plant is
"Ah they look dry" waters xD
I think scrape that bit of soil off that's mouldy too, and after the area is dried out, place a fresh little piece of soil there if you have some.
sprinkle a touch of cinammon if you want.
and try to avoid excessive moisture in that spot while it heals up.
if you still get problem/s might have been contaminated soil somehow and need to be swapped. but that will prob clear it up.
I admit, we have an actual greenhouse now
but still need to lay tiles and soil planters
ive got enough cinnamon at home thanks to loving to bake so
nice~ I can't wait to have a place to put down a greenhouse lols.
just in a rental atm so I make do.
ohhh that's beautiful.
it came with these wooden inlays, so I coated them
with an outdoor furniture stain + coating in one
that should keep it sturdy for a long time.
the greenhouse is standalone, but because the best space was close to/ against the garage, on advise of the sale rep, we left out the glass panels on the garage side and put rubber strips there to isolate/stay flexible at the same time
will something come down over the front or does it work with just the roof? (I'm a little ignorant of greenhouses)
because if a glass panel was to be replaced on that side, you insert it from outside and you'd need at least 50cm or more to comfortably get behind it
yeah true. in fact in warmer days the bricks will prob let off a nice warmth.

the distribution store also had an action where one of the windows got a free upgrade with an automatic window opener
oh heck yes.
its a cilinder with an fluid inside and when it gets hot, the fluid expands and opens the window
what that's wild, I love it.
we also opted for a package that is a combi package or airation- which included a second window opener and a screen mesh door, which is on the same rails as the door but you need to slide the door open, then slide the mesh door in front instead if you want more airflow, without having pets or animals come inside
im curious how it will go, ive dreamed of this for ages, but my experience with gardening is only limited from the few times I helped grandpa with his garden
oic. what a cool greenhouse.
but also, it was not too expensive- compared to some more posh brands or a custom greenhouse
and it also looks so good in the garden
fr it would be an absolute joy to go in there.
theres also ones with a victorian style from a different brand
janssen greenhouses
(funny thing, people who buy this brand also use ACD (the brand we got) accesoires as they also fit in this frame)
although we could also opt for the roof decor
but it was pointless and more expensive
good to know you could potentially swap out utilities though.
ah yeah. it's cute but personally a bit much for me.
exactly, I like the basic frame more on its own
lols the lounge in there amuses me, cause I moved from such a hot climate, I can't conceive of wanting to sit in a greenhouse.
but ig it would be great if it's otherwise cold.
Aaahh one day I'd love to have an outside greenhouse
Currently I live in an apartment so no greenhouse for me
that is cute. and in realising I'd need three or four of them, I'm also realising I should probably stop acquiring plants until I can properly house them all in a suitable, larger space.
Apparently the coconut planters we bought had paper cups inside and the bottoms gave out with todays watering
I wonder if that was designed to biodegrade within the coconut planter? still, weird to hide it in there without warning if that were the case.
that makes like 0 sense since the coconut was more like the vibres, not the hard shell, so it held like no water, it was just pouring over my boyfriends dads childhood metal car my boyfriend put in the windowsill
whoever came up with this is an idiot
oh what what's actually bizarre. what a trash build. :<
luckily had some spare pots in the shed
plant saved! that one's pretty.
its from the hornbach, and there's mixed reviews, half of them are like "this paper cup is trash I had to throw it out" and like, other half of them are like this is perfect for plants who dont need a lot of warter, you need to water it till the dirt is moist, not wet
but then they sell half of the assortiment with thirsty plants so that makes no sense
(though idk how much water the hoya needs, but there were like 0 succulents planted in these)
boyfriend is less fan of the white pot, our plan was to add this one as a third pot, but for now we used it for the large one
he likes this design and it is used for all our other living room plants
so probs gonna buy the same szie and just, plant the hoya in a large pot
it'll have more breathing room
ah yeah orange-ish brown is lovely actually.
it is!!
only sad part is that boyfriend accidentally tore some of the hoya leaves by pulling the yarn over it when trying to remove the pot from the windowsill hook...... rip
im sure it will grow many new leaves
I lost a chunk of one of my succulents being a bit brash with a macrame hanger once lol.
yeah I think it will spring back. :>
luckily the latest baby leaves were untouched, probably due to this fiasco, it will be replanted in the same size pot as the bigger plant so hopefully it will also have more space to grow
its current size pot seems mostly for the current size of the hoya
Whew planted some bulbs to prep for next spring, hope they have a good winter sleep 💤
Oh Kalanchoe flowers~ purty
The leaf is from an african violet plant hehehe
The one that has rooted a bit
Can’t wait to plant it soon
cuteee
My plants are growingggggg
I like the ones on this top shelf, what are they?
The one with the with freckles is a Scindapsus so ivy. The other probably too but a different kind
.....I have the same plant and I didnt recognize it
im a dummy
XD
it actually is posted here
Yeah it’s the same xD
I guess it is because I let it grow down and you have these cool wall stickers
I have another one on the window too xD
Yeah I really like the look of the walls of the plants „climb“ there
The one on the left side of my tv, climbed on the back of the tv, and I had to remove it from it. The roots were like sticking to it like glue xD
there actually is one i have been meaning to look into , my coworker has it on his desk
I forgot which plant it is though
kind of jungle/nature vibe
my fiancee hung up extra railings in front of the windows so we can hang planters from there
oof
Yes, we will also put on of the monsteras with those hole leaves in the aquarium and let it grow out of that
Ahh I have a smilies one it’s the basil one or called like that right?
I also have one with white spots but it’s growing slow
smilies??????
I have it in a glass thing currently, but I have the feeling they don’t like it in there that much, even tho it’s a bit more humid
Similar lol xD
oh
I need it
but knowing my luck this is some expensive variant or something and its not worth buying it when I have a 50/50 chance of almost murdering a plant the first time I buy one
That one is pretty too
Yeah I think it’s still on the more expensive side. But shouldn’t be that expensive tho
Try it out
but I also want the string of hearts variegata
Or maybe look on eBay if you someone has some
I have the normal string of hearts, it’s at the floor soon. Idk where to put it than xD
I have one that is like, the silver one
I cut it off and tried prpopogating it in a glass of water to add to the put
it now has 0.5cm roots
Ohh that is so pretty but probably expensive, the normal string of hearts was already expensive
still a bit to go
it is 7 euros here
honestly they're known to grow easy and easy to propogate
so yea
my mom somehow bought the silver glory and propogated it for us
The string of hearts I got was like 15€ for the smaller one, and 20€ for the size I have now
But maybe we also bought it in the wrong store
oh wow
yeah not sure, I once nought one for a few euros, the normal one
think 3 euros
but I put it too high and didnt water it properly bc it was on a shelf I didnt reach well
I have the string of hearts variegata, they're beautiful.
please show a picture if you are able to!
seems it was one of the few plants I didn't take photos of, I prob forgot since it's a hanging plant. ;o;
so a few months ago this winter it snowed, cold snapped, then went into a really hot spring which suddenly almost merced both my variegatas. I thought they were dead till I saw tiny leaves come in. so atm they're just babies again. :3
Since we still have space next to the aquarium, I was allowed to pick out the plant I wanted since forever
It's so big and glorious o.o
It’s the small version tho
big one would be double as expensive
Oh waw
Niceee
ooo please show when you repot.
I have to wait a tiny bit before repotting because I don’t have a bigger moospole, we have to print it first, but our printer is out of order
Definitely get the Brasil, I love them ♥️ I just took a bunch of cuttings from mine to give a friend to propagate so he's a little shorter than he was a few weeks ago but still such a nice happy easy plant
I'd say mine is kind of indirect, it is pretty in line with the window but probably 20+ ft from it so it only gets hit with the light for a little bit every day (if that). He was so long he hit the ground and started going back up before the trim (it was actually an issue because the ends kept getting stepped on by the dogs 🙃 )
I can't believe mine is as happy as it seems to be still, I keep thinking it's going to randomly start dying on me because it must be insanely root bound in there (I still haven't repotted it from the nursery pot I got it in), but at the same time I'm scared to repot it since it seems so happy as is
Ahhhh so I've had a variegated Micans on my wish list if they ever come down in price (the rare plant store by my home sells them for $450 and from what I've seen from other sellers that seems like the expected market value currently or close to it at least). Well I'm on vacation right now and happened upon a cute plant store so I went in to see what they had and they had one for $60!!!!! I'm so excited to get it home now
Oh finding a rare plant for a steal is super exciting!!!
I'm just hoping it makes the trip home now 😬 the hotel I stayed in for my last night here had a city wide planned power outage for maintenance during the night but I think between cranking up the heat before it started and the blankets I wrapped around the plant box it should be ok
Hopefully it's okay
He somehow managed to make it home safe 😍 put him in the quarantine cabinet now but I'm still so excited by the bargain I got
awe what a pre tty plant
Micans are my absolute favorites, even the non-variegated ones are so pretty I love them ♥️
Sheesh the air is so dry in the winter... I feel like I'm watering some plants everyday
you're still awake!?
Meanwhile i dont know hpw to get rid of humidity here...everyday at 60 to 70 percent
Haha I wouldn't mind switching. I got home today and the humidifier had died.. the apartment was at 15% 😭
😂I use an app. But it's so dry here that I can tell by just looking at the plant leaves
that's so high for indoors! at the new place, right?
Yeah
But i think thats also common here
dang. i thought the new place would mean you'd have less issues
do buildings there have an hvac unit? like central a/c that also regulates humidity?
But winters jere are almost 100 percent humidity outside
Lol no
We dont have that
We have heaters thats it
Thatd why germans lüften
here our a/c also deals with humidity. cause it's like 80+ humidity outside almost year round. inside is pretty consistently 40% but it's a tad too low for my liking. i wish it was closer to 50 but at least it's not humid
I learned about that in a reel! XD
You basically heat up the apartment to capture the humidity and then open the windows for 5 to 10 mins. Long enough to get the humidity out but not too long to get outdoor humidity inside
what if you're not home and at work???
Which we dont do because bruh
right
lol
our contract technically says not to air dry dishes but i never listen to that
You are technically not supposed to dry clothes here in apartments
Because huge increase in humidity
yeah that makes sense
Sometimes apartment complexes provide a room in tje basement for everyone to hang and dry their clothes
Which i ofc also dont do
neko the rebel
I dont need neighbors to see my underwear. Plus its the basement...it smells wet and old down there i dont want my clothes to takw in that smell. Or id just forget my clothes xD
I should prob stop talking about this in here xD
Main point is just....ive never seen 15 percent humidity ever in my life. Id prob dry out
me too but summer. I'm having hot dry days making my plants so thirsty, but then it randomly pours rain; I'm concerned for their safety lol. want to put them undercover but a few need that full sun.
Anything below 60% here and my pups start getting dry skin issues so they're a good monitor for the plant happiness at least 🙃 I live in an area where you can't go more than a mile in any direction without hitting a lake though so it's just the norm
my fam is looking after my plants while I'm away and I might have lost my beloved pitcher to the sudden changes. ganbatte little guy, hang in there!
Fingers crossed he pulls through 🤞
My minima was growing in several directions, so I cut off the other strand now, and trying to bring it to root
Had to relocate my moms plant to make space for the christmas tree...its taking up almost the whole room xD
Our money tree has started losing a lot of leaves and turning pale and yellow a lot, are these trips?😭
Plant is nearly 2 years where it stands so its nit light/water
On positive news finally got around to repotting the coconut paper pot plants properly and I think the reason this one leaked first is bc it simply doesnt drink as much... Oops
I remade the idea of the yarn hangers but bigger and also a bit longer so its easier to water and see if it is still wet or not
I love this! looks so gorgeous hanging lower.
I never saw this butahhh tyy
I repotted some plants today, that big was was exhausting with making a new mosspole and getting it all in there
Nice work!! Def worthwhile
looks fantastic! this large one looks great next to the tank.
your plants will be happy.
I need to do some repotting but the weather is so hot lately. I'm worried for some of my plants still in shop pots in this weather but I might wilt if I go in it too long.
I think I should take over watering from my fiancee 😭
I feel guilty bc it progressed that he used to water plants before I came along, then I moved in, and we got a ton of extra plants, and I watered them.
But then we got pots in places I couldn't reach so he took over, but now we have a few that vary in water needs and the fern we got is like SOAKING and lost half its body during winter time bc fiancee thought fern = lots of water
Then again, I'm also not too good at remembering how and what
I think a visual chart could help.
less water
moderate water
more water
(and pictures of the plant beside each title)
I also wonder if it would work to have moisture sensor(s) to indicate if they are still moist when its water time
we have 2 plants in the bathroom, a calathea that has a lot of damage from being too dry (our mistake, she has grown one pretty baby leaf now) and we got the fern later on so I guess he was like, well ferns need a lot of water, the calathea also needed more water, 1 + 1 = 2
also a hoya who needs less water than initially
he is really good at the aloe and succulents we have downstairs though
my bf is really good at veggie plants, but sucks at my plants. He is alawys like, repto them repot them, the pot i sto small, and i m like: no, they should grow leaves and ant not roots like your veggie splants xD
somehow the more difficult math of: when did I last water my succulent, is easier for him than trying to measure the difference of water volume some of the weekly plants get
while I am bad at remembering when I last did somethign
Succulents are also pretty easy because they don’t need much, I haven’t watered mine over 3 months xD
https://www.tiktok.com/@gardenhomemania/video/7388532961492094254 saw this on reddit (and someone linked this video) and I wonder if I should try it
I was not expecting my alocasia to flower lolol
gorgeous!!
I love an unexpected bloom.
For a while I thought it was just a weird leaf until it actually bloomed
I had a gift card from my company so I choose a plant store and now got some plants lol. Alocasia scalprum, epipremnum pinnatum happy leaf, alocasia velvet and silver dragon
Ohhhhh
I really cant wait for spring. I let down a couple plants and I think I lost my scalprum and ninja 😭
what the plant doin?
this is a regular baby leaf.
and this is a baby leaf that grew in a loop and plugged itself in.
Flowering again???? 👀👀
Spring is only 1 month away
Here's to hoping our wisteria will bloom this year
they say its like 3-5 years after planting, or 2-3 years if it is a grafted one
but idk how old the one we bought was when we received it from the plant breeder
Also curious to see how many of the plants we planted last year will bloom/have survived winter
i have a wisteria bonsai.. lets see if it actually blooms too
ayyy I hope so too
that sounds cute!
Someone wants a baby? XD
xD
XD my mom also has a lot xD they are bigger than the mother plant
So I have this tiny plant I salvaged from the office, it has barely enough dirt and haven't been watered in a while (the spot it's in is already very humid) and yet it's blooming !
Awww it looks so happy blooming!! Nice! 🌼
It looks like a Kalanchoe - if it is, then infrequent watering is perfect as they're a type of tropical succulent 🙂 Lots of light, a bit of water, and they're happy as Larry
The camellia are already blooming
Laat year they also kept blooming till almost winter
Been a while since i shared something. Bakchoys are thriving
oh they're looking so healthy and delicious!
Thanks! Honestly cant wait to munch on them xP
Guys my mother of thousands is THRIVING with babies
I'm considering taking it to an event that has trinket trading and just handing it to people in little baggies or smn
Thoughts?
you could split the babies off into small pots and hand those out?
(I think you can buy biodegradable/natural card pots that are designed for temporary use, for really cheap iirc; they can be planted into the dirt of a larger pot without needing to "depot" the plant, and just biodegrade into the soil over the next few weeks of watering.)
Hmmm yes maybe! The babies are so small though so if I'm trying to do 1-2 baby each container, about 20 containers, it may get a little bulky, do you think?
I wonder if they made the biodegradable pots in miniature size
But if not, maybe I'll make some mini cardstock boxes and stuff some dirt in them with the baby
1 cubic inch box mayhaps
oh yeah, that's a lot.
We have a big silicon tray for 20-30 small plants where you usually play seeds for pre growing. Maybe that’s smth, also reuasbale and easy to clean
I do also have to consider if maybe baby plants are bad for trinket trading
the ones I mentioned do come in itty bitty size (as they're for starters).
I look into those!
We use smth like this but bigger
here're mine, though I'm in australia, you might find similar peat pots.
warning, they soak through when watered though, so water and let them dry a little before packing them into a box for your swap. x3 they dry out quite quickly.
you can plant these ones straight into a garden or larger pot~ as they'll biodegrade into the soil.
I do have one of these reuseable ones that I'm currently starting other seeds in rn
Maybe I'll put the babies in there after the current seeds germinate and get transplanted
Nice so that means whenever the reciever gets home, they can just plop it into any pot and ready to go
yes~ they will fall apart though, so they'd need a new home within the week.
probs longer tbh, but just to be safe. xD
it helps eliminate transplant shock too.
Hmm wait what if I get it established in the soil in the tray and wait for the soil to dry and compact, then move it to the peat pots
So the soil and plant will be smaller than peat pot
And I can maybe like staple shut the peat pot or something for better transport
or stack them inside a larger box.
idk plastic is also good for transporting, so whatever works for you. x3
I have until first week of September to really plan this XD
Hello all. I'm in love with the idea of gardening, but I don't really have the brain for it. I just stick stuff in a pot and wish it good luck. I also struggle with being in limited space. Is there anyone who plants vegetable on a balcony with mostly shade? Tips please! 🥺
I brought my little button fern inside; he didn't like the sun, which keeps burning like summer when should be autumn.
just chillin in its future home.
Lots of floating shelves for me near the windows! But that's with my houseplants, not veggies. I'm not sure any veggies will really like being container plant on a shady balcony...
Could you get grow light attachments?
I do have a grow light. I think it works well. Some plants do better than others.
I think I need some marigolds, too.
Some of my herb seeds are coming out
Also planted 3 new grasses where I removed some plants and put them in the front yard bc succulents dont like to be watered by fountain splatter
Also cherry blossom
what a beautiful peek of your gardens.
Our hydro dwarf tomato’s are growing big
I've been thinking about getting a tower like that!
Yeah that would probably work out better for you! I forgot those exist!
I just need to find dwarf tomatoes and other smaller fruit/veggies. My last attempt at growing a tomato, without it bearing fruit, it grew so large!
are you from europe? i could ask my bf if he makes you a little seed package
or a list with good dwarf tomatos
nah I'm in the States
i ll ask him for a list of his favorits! i can recommend fuzzy wuzzy and amber keys so far!
Thanks! Sometimes, I check out my library to see what free seed are there. I should go this weekend
That’s what my bf recommended:
Dwarfs:
Tiny Tim
Balkoni Red/Yellow
Vilma
Tumbling Tom
Aztek
Bajaja
Fuzzy Wuzzy
Jt might also be a nice tower for herbs you use for cooking
The one with herbs is growing already
a third one is finished but now plants yet and fourth is on the way to being printed
The wind blew a lot of blossoms in the yard
What a nice idea to collect them ! What will you do with it ?
I will probably use them to glue on cards to send out to friends/family
Or maybe stick a few in a photo frame depending on how nice they turn out
Its my first time pressing flowers
I did do my best to cut the stems but I didnt know how far to cut
I want to grow my own basil, 🪴 rue, and maybe cilantro too! I just don't know if they can grow inside, like by my window
Basil grows pretty much everywhere XD
I haven’t been able to do cilantro long term. That one is a toughie
If the window is big enough and sunny, cilantro should work too
Bc we have a lot of sand and clay, we decided to tile the greenhouse and use raised planters instead of digging and then having to export the digging waste
Fiancee also came up with using leftover bits to make an edge in front of the door so less rocks can land in the railing of the door
He did a mighty good job ... Sadly couldn't help bc the tiles were too heavy
We decided to get a plunger but mom also gave us some of those cardboard things
Results: cardboard is quicker but more expensive
Plunger is multi use, with some wet dirt works perfect but takes longer to plant bc you have to wet the dirt, pack the dirt and plunge for each seed
On the other hand plunger is also probs easy to plant
Think we stick with plunger bc it was the same cost total for 2 trays and 1 plunger as for 1 big pack of cardboard
I just mixed the dirt in a bucket with a bit of our rainwater reservoir
My mom randomly got me this adorable plant pot, it's so cute I'm struggling to decide on a plant that'd do it justice 🤔 my immediate thought was Ogre's Ears but I'm really bad with succulents (much better with tropical plants that don't mind a bit of over watering 😅). Any suggestions?
since it's clay and will leech out the water content from the soil and dry it up faster than another material, I'd put something in which prefers less moisture (assuming it has a hole in the bottom for drainage).
plants that like to stay somewhat moist at all times and suffer from drying out can find this material problematic.
though you're using a different pot inside this pot, my comment is irrelevant.
I definitely was thinking pot within a pot method. It does have drainage but I've always run into issues with dirt seeping through clay pots a bit if I try to plant them directly in one
my first thought was succulents too.
pothos and philodendron are pretty leafy plants that don't mind overwatering and would benefit from the weight of the pot. the latter might suit the pot better and grow more upwards; pothos will be more inclined to trail and wander.
golden creeping jenny would be a super cute option that loves water, though don't let it wander into your garden unchecked as, over time, it could be a sleeper that pushes other plants out.
bamboo.
Ohh, sad as it is, I've got pretty much all the pothos and philos you typically find at most plant stores at this point 😅 but the creeping jenny would be cute 🤔
I think that pot would look nice with some lower foliage dangling above/around it.
I bought some office plants for my desk on a whim last Thursday, I started searching for tiny succulent pots. I told myself to look in person before buying what was in my Etsy cart. I forgot about my plants and today, Monday, came back to work to find a few crunchy plants. I am now on a mission to resusitate them and also, I went ahead and bought what was in my cart. Cuz why did I wait!? (I don't work in the office on Fridays. So I just left them there with no one)
One of two plants bounced back! One is back in water jail
Yaay
water jail lol
Got some planties
Oooh the pothos and i think thats a silver dragon! A couple of my faves! Great variety of plants overall!
Idk what exactly they are, but I needed some bit variety in my hanging plant collection xD
Oh lol all good! Theyre all perfect to compliment to your collection. Esp Pothos! Gives that extra volume and drama lol
&
fell in love with this pretty pink rose bush. it was missing its tag but I think it's floribunda bonica rose. I'll repot this into a larger pot;
&
some cutie irises waiting for my garden;
thyme creeping bergamot;
thyme lemon, both to go into my herb box.
please excuse the paper bags in the garden. I was redoing my weed prevention and ran out of mulch for the week.
@eternal oyster
GIMME ALL OF THEM
Omg your baby there too
Is that not your kid..
In the 5th and 6th pic?
haha. that is my legs.

understandable mistake though, I am small with stick legs and cute shoes. xD
Got extra discount on these bc lowest price warranty
Bit of a waste that there's a bit sticking under the shelves but worst case we can remove those shelves
Or make the shelves higher
Ohh it looks so pretty I m jealous
I'm so happy with it
I hope it works out
The peas I sowed are starting to form a wee sprout
We are going for bell peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, sugar snaps, cucumber and maybe strawberries
your garden boxes are so nice looking! can't wait to see how the farm turns out
this design is actually so inspirational to me. I hope you don't mind if I take a leaf or two from your book in the future when I have my own space to build in.
Feel free!!!
its from this brand!
first we were like: hsould we dig in the earth
But we have super tough clay and they did a sand bed fundation for the greenhouse placement. So that'd probably be a lot of using the ground drill to losen the cray then somehow transport/deposit the clay somewhere
then we were like: lets tile it instead and initially we wanted to diy some plant borders, but eventually went like maybe buying is easier.
So then we were like do we go for wood or plastic, but my fiancee was a big fan of plastic since he thinks it stays more nice looking longer and I was a bit either way, so when we found these and it had a nice drainage system, I found it pretty usefull looking
only downside is, its only 25 cm deep
but if you keep that also in mind when placing x amount of plants, hopefully the roots will still having enough space
And there are a tons of dwarf plants made for this, really interesting to look into this topic
yeee
Even pumpkins work
technically these are more of a, planter marketed for balconies n stuff
but I also think some trial and error will work out eventually
my fiancee wants cucumbers, but I will have to look for a breed that might fit well in these planters then
My bf try’s to get rid of ours, we have now four hydro towers and he will put two outside instead of all our planters. Since the soil also gets dry super fast and you have to take care and look after it
ngl, we also have zucchini but we didnt do our research for those, so I will do max 1 or 2 in one planter
since they are big plants
We have a small one that makes like oranges sized and shaped zucchini xD
ohh fun
we did the traditional one that you find in most grocery stores
bc they had so many kinds and we had a syntax error
I should put my bf in here, he knows all the different ones by the names and could tell you instantly which one for what
does he know his strawberries as well?
we want to plant those either in the greenhouse or the yard
boyfriend wants one that is nice for eating straight up, or maybe in pastries, a bit firm but not the softer ones that are more useful for jams
;v;
I am overwhelmed
theyre harder to choose than cucumbers or peas
ohhhhhh, well they look awesome! Maybe I'll find something similar in Canada. I live in a condo and thus kinda hard to grow veggies on a balcony many floors off the gorund xD So i was looking into getting garden boxes xD
Explore durable and weather-resistant planters and garden beds that grows healthy plants while creating a stylish patios, gardens and outdoor spaces.
this is their assortiment in canada
but there's many varieties
We have strawberry plant form a local strawberry farm here so I don’t really know which kind they they are
I also saw this brand a lot, they have 1 or two raised planters
and the wooden brands are very common
Get yourself a hydrotower
but if you want it to last longer, you may want to use some sort of outdoor laquer on the wood
ikea also has cute stuff
Or hydro buckets, we have one from spiderfarmers
nice that is is local though
For inside hydro is really easy
has some more magic to it that way
oh true i could try and go hydro
i have an aerogarden.. but xD obviously i can't grow that many things in it
also thank you @lean frost for the link to the canadian site 😄 will look into it ❤️
Our towers we printed but there are a lot of ready options like the spiderfarmer buckets or you can buy a tower etc.
I use semi hydro for all my plants and that’s also working good, some herbs we have in semi hydro too
Ikea also has some cute mini greenhouses I think?
And browse your local hardware stores website for what they have in stock
Yes
Lechuza has also some nice pots
another fun option might be something to attach to your balcony railing if you have one
or hanging pots- stuff like strawberries, or herbs might be possible in those
(tho I am often too short to reach those to water properly........., then again you can just, hang em lower)
There are also like strawberry buckets you can put on top of each other
Could be a option for other stuff too, herbs, dwarf plants
https://www.gardenersworldmagazine.nl/groene-school/moestuin/hanging-baskets-eetbare-planten/ sorry that this is a dutch site, but tdlr:
edible plants in hanging basket:
- tomatoes: especially bush based tomato plants are an option for hanging baskets
- zucchini: a climbing zucchini is also possible to let it grow downwards from a hanger
- cucamelon: a really small melon, since it is a climber you can also put it in a hanger.
- peas: normally you bind those against a rack, but they can also hang down
- cucumber: another type of climber that does ok in a planter
- eggplant: there are many kinds, some of which can do well in a pot, especially one that grows in bunches
- nasturtium/indian cress: pretty much everything is edible, you can pickle the fruits into capers, I personally hate capers though
- strawberries: enough said
Bush tomatoes that are really nice are amber keys or there other colored options like blue keys, they have tons of tomato’s and super yummy
And pumpkin works too since it’s the same as a cucumber/melon kinda
I do like pumpkins, but my cooking ability with em is limitef
I enjoy them more for the vibes
I am making a halloween fairy with crochet, so I am looking forward to this years halloween decor
theres a pumpkin farm nearby too
pic from google maps
I am dragging my fiancee there whether he likes it or not
(jk he just likes spending time with me, even if he doesnt see the appeal of pummpkins as decor /gasp/)
although he did say he prefers big pumpkins over the mini ones bc at least those feel like proper halloween decor so we will see
But the mini ones are good
ikr
theyre perfect for an assortiment of different ones all stashed together somewhere
I love anything mini
god same
Our mini pumpkins were also so yummy, we had jack be little ones and they are so good and pretty
awee
I don't have my tomatoes, yet. Might try next year, but I did prepare marigold, green onions, and pineapple on my patio! I can't wait for the results. (Already was growing a ponytail palm and ginger)
Tomatoes acquired
Will be sharing 2 with my mom tho
I have no idea if these will turn out well but they're an interesting bunch
I’ve harvested my basil twice already and my kale, arugula, sandy lettuce, thyme and cherry tomatoes are beginning to sprout

Home garden
I'm playing Stardew Valley irl
Oh yes I have
The fugly man gets added...
Omg how did i just found out about this. I always lowkey wanted to romance Clint just cuz he is socially awk. Wizard would be fun......
Not sure if anyone has advice on this, but my basil is having a big growth spurt rn. I found it leaning over before I turned on my light for the morning. How can I keep the lil guy more upright?
You could try getting a smol pole and wrap it with some rope to hold it up
Oo yeah. I've been trying to work while I find a rope, but I don't remember where I put it
Its very common to use them to hold up overgrowing plants lol
I didn't expect it to be growing this good. I woke up and was like "AAAAA what are you doing"
your basil suffering from success.

you can often buy cotton or hemp twine from a gardening section in a hardware shop, or a garden shop.
you can even part the threads to make it finer if the weight is a bit much for the plant its holding. ^^
Oo that's a good idea, I'll have to buy them!
For now I'm using plastic string from a cord package.
that works!
I have tiny uh
pins? clips?
I feel like the ones for orchids might also work well for herbs
maybe these can work too
or a ;larger size one
My desk plant update!
Moved 3 of 4 plants into new pots. Number 4 never revived. Will buy a new one.
On a random note: my water plants decided to sprout for the first time since I planted their seeds in January and February. So I guess I'm keeping it.
3rd plant needed a bit of water 😅
It's okay now
Setup looking nice!
Are those the little micro plants that you're gonna flood with water for a little aquarium affect?
Yes! I've been waiting so long so I can try it out. I have a little stone, too. For added zen
Been having a hard time with growing cilantro and was worried it was a bad seed batch. This morning, I saw this
if it makes you feel better, those pods are always kinda tricky for cilantro. i've never been able to grow more than a few weeks although all of mine did sprout. better luck doing it in soil for me.
Is it because the pods are pretty small for a cilantro seed? Cilantro seeds are the largest ones I've ever seen/worked with
We'll see if it thrives, but if it doesn't, I might opt for soil. How big did your cilantro get in a small/medium pot?
it could be a number of factors. depending on how the pods were stored, they could be "dead" seeds from too much heat or bad storage. I also, personally, fell like it's just an herb that doesn't like 100% water based on experience. i'm able to trim some to use but then i never get back enough to recoup and then it dies out.
mmmm.... i am a bad plant parent and forget to water so the soil ones didn't last too long hahahaa
but if you like green onion, they work well in the aerogarden! you can use the holder thingy and take like 2-3 stalks, cut off the top and use in food and then tie them together with a rubber band and stick their root side into the holder. i've had lot sof success with store bought green onion
rosemary and basil are also pretty good in there. the woody plants do well but def have to trim often to keep them from taking over
slight off topic but I ordered this one for mothers day
hope mom likes it!
(and yes I snatched one for myself too.......... so I got free shipping.... even though it wasn't that neccesary for myself)
she had originally asked for a smaller cheaper one, but this one had divider tabs, more decor instead of a plain tin and 3 departments where 1 is for taller seed packs
the store also had a lot of gardening tools, but for now I can just borrow the stuff from fiancees parents as we share a garden
Our balcony planters are already at a harvesting stage
herbs are growing inside. And tomato’s, pumpkins, cucumber and stuff is growing
oooo
I hope I can still plant cucumbers and zucchinis
I forgot to properly research the seed planting and I was like oh no it says on the package I need to plant them rn
so I planted them under glass in seedling dirt
but because they're big plants I only did a few so maybe I should get some extra to be on the safer side
yes if you are fast and keep them inside at a warm palce it could work
yeahh I put them in the greenhouse
maybe next year I should plant them indoors first
atm I have 2 zucchini seeds and 4 cucumber.... which might be a bit on the lower side
gotta maybe add more, I planted them the past weekend so I can still try more
red is peppers
I had those planted around easter........ also with not a lot of research other than the seed pacakge instructions
but my sweet peas are coming up like crazy
the weather is warming up in Canada finally and seeing all of the friend's plants makes me wanna start my garden now!!!
-# i can't unfortunately cause I'm moving soon
This is my only plant. I've had a few different succulents over the years but they always parished within a few months. Funny enough, this gal's been thriving for a couple years now lmao
My coworker has the motto
If a plant dies its not made for me, I keep buying plants till I find one that works
And honestlu mood
LOL I want to do the same but alas not currently able to afford it and I've some space limits (plus cats to avoid ha!)
Had to transfer my basil to the other pot, and wow are these roots big. Only after 50 days too
I have this one, scindaptus pictus
mine grew like 3x as long in the past 2 years and its in a relatively shadow like spot and i just yeet water in it 1x a week
So I guess this one is low maintenance
its really low maintance, i have 3 currently i think xD and they are jsut growing evrywhere
The one accidentally grew into the aquarium so doesn’t have leaves at some parts xD
Also pretty low maintenance is this one and monster adansonii
I have an obsession with plants like that lol as you can see
The way they branch out and cover your walls is so beautiful
I'm only 53 days into my planting journey and I already know I'm gonna have a bunch of plants by the end of the year
Pretty blooms
Clematis is super enthousiast
The grapes is also in the second year
Hope one day all is covered
if you have a toilet paper roll, thread them through there and they can lean on it until their stems get thicker and stronger
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Brb gotta cut it a little
Cuties
they just needed a little support but they look good otherwise!
Sometimes we all need a little support so we can grow nice and sturdy again
turned it into a life lesson. i love it 🥹
It is true!
I found that needing support sometimes doesn't mean I fail, but I just need some extra tools to grow better
Both at work, but also in my private live
So idk I just related to the Lil sprouts
Speaking of support I love my fiancee
He finished the tomato hooks while I was cooking
(Though I know we lose some possible height with our raised planters)
wow these are very cool!
Thanks!! I had to think it out but fiancee did the installation of the metal wire rails
Super happy with it
This is how I want my garden once we move! It looks great!
I didn't see your reply but thank you!
That said we went a bit more luxury than what is probably needed, but luckily since we did so many things ourselves in the backyard we saved some costs there
Plants got repotted and spa day afterwards
And I noticed I am not as bad with plants as I thought
This is Benjamin when I got him ~3 years ago
And now he’s as tall as me
Big boy
Ooo
I have a feeling I’ll be bad with plants since I’ve never done it before but I really want to start. What kind of plant is Benjamin? He grew!!!
I also always thought i'm bad with plants but a bit of research and trying to keep them alive helped in most cases cough Benjamin is a Ficus benjamina! :D
I’ll have to do a bunch of research then. I refuse to mess any of them up haha are ficus’ pretty easy to take care of?
I would say yes. I repot them once a year (maybe all 2 years) and he gets water and fertilizer frequently
and thats about it, no special soil or anything
I'm attempting to garden...and not unalive it all 😅 I did just buy first house plant 💜🌱
what plant did you get? :D
Bought chives and I think they ate the dirt
oohh hahaha oops
You can try to gently separate them. Once separated and you got the roots relatively dangling down, you can chop off 1/3 of the length and it’ll be fine. But they look really nice and healthy!
I fully neglect my plants (I forget to water them) and they stay with me lolol. Remember plants generally want to live. Even the more sensitive ones still push to live so take the risk and don’t get too stressed over it. You have lots of people to ask for advice too
Id hope the roots are healtjy if i just bought them lol! I just ended untangling them a bit and put it inna bigger pot
They are! White/cream roots are healthy. Brown, mushy, stinky ones are not
If anything, they could be separated into a several pots so there’s more room to grow
Think of roots like veins. Thicker ones are the main ones and they have thinner tendrils coming off the main. I generally try to trim less of the main off and mostly trim the smaller ones but if too long, I’ll cut the main down
Ahh I might go back and try again
I did want to sepparate them initially so i wouldnt use my prettiest pot
But they were really stubborn
We started to get rid of our beds, and wanna change to hydro completely on the balcony. That pumpkin is just only 20 days old and has grown as much as a pumpkin in normal soil
And I finally spend some monies and made myself a new mix for my plants. With coconut chips, coconut soil, perlite, and whatever they are called stony things
And I m experimenting with helping my plants to root at some areas or making new plant parts, with wet moos and foil to keep it wet and it works, on my Thai that root has grown a cm since I put it on on Saturday evening, and my minima is also doing new stuff
I aspire to have a green thumb like you
I m just trying out stuff I see on the internet to be honest😆
Lil update on my garden. Everything’s been growing really well (I already have to harvest my basil again). My thyme and cilantro are germinating
You can try and cut down some stuff, and it probably will grow back more
Yeah I gotta do that after work today. It's been growing so well I'm shookth at its current size 😆
I noticed its base is starting to become woody. Scared me at first cus I thought it was molding
Moving my plants to the new condo... Trip 1 xD
Alright time for round two
have a good move! I hope your babies adjust well to their new lighting conditions.
I did some repotting yesterday with my new soil mix
MONSTERAS
Still struggling with lavender to germinate, but everything, even my cilantro is doing good. Gotta harvest my basil again very soon.
We collected elderflower right in time, because it’s raining now. And than all the pollen(what gives the most taste) would be washed away
And I was cutting and crying onions for two hours
Visiting the parents and their front garden is showing signs of life again! Spring has returned! 🌱
Everyone has so many plants, a joyous time to see them
popping off!
I noticed some of my leaves are browning at the very tips. I was sick this past week so I haven't been super attentive with my plants, but does brown tips usually point to underwatering or too little humidity? I left my dehumidifier on for most of the week so I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
Nvm I had to clear my water cus it def wasn't healthy. Had to do some major pruning on some weeds so let's see if I didn't screw up
My water garden that decided to grow after 5 months and the rest of my desk plants!
We got our very first tomato’s of this year!
yummm. you know where the first ones go!

they all got yummed up pretty fast
they look so plump~
Yuuum, those look great! I've been growing some as well but they're far from maturing
hehehe shrunken tomatoes
They are one of Daniel’s dwarf ones. So won’t get any bigger anyways xD
nooo shrink ray sounds cooler! lol
I couldnt get my cucumbers to sprout so I tried a damp paper towel in a ziplock bag with new seeds of the same package and in 2 days they sprouted
Wasted 3 weeks trying to get them to germinate in sprout soil
We let all seeds sprout like that. Also rizomes. It’s the best and fastest way!
This is my first year but glad I discovered this
Lil update on my plants. Kale is starting to struggle, but I had some root rot and oxygen issues I had to solve with new water, root pruning, an air pump, and hydrogen peroxide. My basil, thyme, and parsley are doing great though. All I'll say is don't plant a full house of lettuce and herbs when you're still a lil newbie
Not the root rot 😭
Yuuuuuuuuuuuuup. I'm surprised I went this long without it, but being sick last week meant I wasn't able to tend to my plants as much as I should've.
OH NOOO, taking care of plants can be hard so I don't blame you at all.
I think I caught it in the early stages but I trimmed extra roots to be safe
Nah i couldnt even care for succulents....
My bf is trying to grow pineapple. The small one is already rooting xD
Pineapple...
xD
let him experiment xD i always say: better he does stuff like that than doing bad or super expensive stuff xd
and the big one was yummy, because it didnt had the allergic reaction that most pineapple give
I know this is a method for propgating but
How does it work for a pineapple that grows on a tree???
Dont ask me that xD the pineapple head? the leaves part will root and than turn into the pineapple plant eventually. the plant is more like a cactus style plant, 0.5-1,5 meters. so its not really a tree, its more like bush cactus mix
Ah....that is a wonder
pineapples are bromeliads. when that kind of plant flowers it signals the plant to create a little clone in the top, which can also be planted. pineapples take at least few years or more to flower, but all the little spikes in the fruit are each a fruit. they're like a cluster of flowers.
Oh ty!!! I didnt know they could do that
Gotta write it down
They grow on spiky bush like plants. Not really trees. I found out from the sims castaway on the nintendo DS
Bromeliads are really pretty plants btw
Very tropical
omg you unlocked a memory in my brain xD
I sucked at that game but I spend so many hours in it
I always got lost on what to do but honestly I was younger and didn't know English well back then
pineapples are so interesting, fun fact, they are also more acidic in the morning then in the evening because of the way they do photosynthesis :)
I once had a really sour pineapple from the grocery store and I swear the pineapple tried to eat my tongue. I couldn't even eat a big portion because that one particular pineapple hurt to eat
yeah most peopel are allergic to pineapple and kiwi also
Oh dw, I usually don't have issues with pineapples, this one was just so sour my tongue felt raw. Didn't have the same issue with different pineapples after haha
I know people sometimes take the pineapple stings too literal and then discover that the stinging they experience, is more than non-allergic people experience
This was the level of me eating an entire bag of sour candy in one go and having a raw tongue, after only a few bits of pineapple.
But I don't usually have it if a pineapple is like,,,, normal pineapple levels
i usually react to all pineapples, but the one yesterday was perect. i also buy the kiwis that dont have that acidics in it. because i really have issues xD
I once did read that pineapples do contain stuff that breaks down other stuff in your mouth etc, but usually to a lesser level than your body can handle
but this article explains what it actually is.
of course, allergies are different altogether
I didnt know there were different types of kiwis tbh
yeah the golden kiwis are the non allergic ones, they also arent that hairy outside, and than there is also one with red inside
yes
I have actually not heard of the red kiwis
i found them in the uspermarket, they are double the price but super yumm
ohh
just googled if they can be grown but apparently they're licenced and like the ones from the store are usually cross pollinated with non red kiwis so the seeds dont really grow the plant necessary to get the exact same red kiwi
yeah kiwis are hard also, same as blueberries
Awhh
Had an overwatering and biofilm incident with my lettuce so I had to do more sanitizing.
Growing blueberries, kiwis, and pineapple is a dream of mine. I hope the pineapple turns out yummy
you can try dropping food grade hydrogen peroxide into the water. like a small amount. food grade is very important so you don't get sick. it helps to keep all of that stuff lower. you may have to play around with amounts to get it just right
3% hydrogen peroxide has been helping so far! I've been super generous with the amount but maybe I'll have to add a more
if we trust the interwebs... max suggested is 1:3 ratio hp to water. so you should have a good bit of wiggle room.
depending on your water and I assume heat and whatever is in the air impacts the growth.
I did 1 tbsp for every liter of water I have. So far it's been helping clear up the water in my other reservoir. Hopefully the same approach works with these lil guys
if you're able to and the plants will be okay, you can also try setting the light for less time
Yeah I can do that! I have my lights set to 12 hours a day atm, so maybe that's impacting bacteria growth
Or maybe a lower light setting might be good
it for sure does! the algae photosynthesizes so any light will help it grow more. You can also find ways to block any holes where light can get through.
I started mine too! I try every year. It's fun
Cucamelons also sounds fun
We have passion fruit but like, the not sweet variant
If you wanna try blueberries try a Kamtschatka blueberry. They aren’t that Demanding than normal blueberries. Normal blueberries need like a Sandish clayish ground and are big divas. The Kamtschatka is a easy version and not a diva. We planted it in our garden last year
The garden centres are up and running. Behold.

Garden I went to!
omgosh the snapdragons are absolutely popping. I love when they're so healthy and fresh.
that must've been a relaxing day.
It was a fantastic walk ^ ^
Look at that fresh beauties
they're beautiful!!!
Ma Babies
Wow those are so pretty
My thyme is growing so fast that I needed another way to support the stem
And good news is the biofilm issue is going away. Everything’s growing perfectly now
you can work on pruning it now so it'll grow bushier and not just tall
Never thought you could prune this early on
you can cut at that pink mark and as it grows taller, trim off stems similarly
Oh wow that's a lot of pruning. I trust your judgement thou
you have a few stems and quite a number of leaves so pruning now is fine and probably beneficial in the long run. think of it as a road and a truck is making deliveries. it has to go a long way to get to the top leaves. all the energy is going towards getting to those leaves and it takes away from establishing a strong root system.
i probably wouldn't cut mroe than that though. but that particular stem is a bit leggy
also leggy stems may start to crowd and block light from the slower growing ones
That's what I was thinking but I wasn't too sure. I lowered my light just now so hopefully that'll help too
it's scary but pruning is actually good even if it feels liek you're taking off a lot. especially woody type plants like basil and thyme. because once the stems become woody, you can't really cut them and have new growth. it just kinda stops for some reason
That's good to know! I tend to be conservative with my basil pruning, but the more I cut off, the better it seems to grow. Ty for all the tips
i watched a video in high school about plants and there was a theory at the time that plants do talk. freshly cut grass smells good so people will cut it more often and that's good for their growth. when giraffes eat the leaves off those trees (i forget what the name is), they release a scent to other trees and their leaves start to form toxins.
I'd love to watch that video cus that theory makes a lot of sense
so i'm unable to confirm because it's not available to watch, really but I think it's the episode 'Smarty Plants' from a docuseries called 'The Nature of Things' (2012) done for CBC Canada. The only way to watch is to buy a DVD or get it as an educator somehow. 😭
not even VPN worked. they're very hush hush XD
(Not a expert on thyme so forgive me if I’m wrong) but yea pruning should be fine here, more so to regrow the stem in a more slow and controlled manner. If at a later point your specificity pruning to get a more bushy/split plant, try trimming a bit above the intersections with leaves and two side buds, cutting above should cause the side bits to be able to grow
the koi patterns on that second leaf are exquisite.
pruning is good to take down these leggy lengths to above the lower healthy cluster of leaves.
pruning in this manner also encourages ramification (the forking of the stems and limbs to create more diverging branches outwards from those parts, so they're not just extending upwards), which can support your "yield" (of useable or decorative leaves, for whatever reason you're growing it).
it's something I learned in bonsai, but is useful to know for many kinds of plant where you want to encourage the "fullness" of the plant.
For anyone wondering how this works, this has to do with Auxine. The top/main stem of the plant produces Auxine and this transported down the plant, the side buds don’t shoot (mainly) because of that downwards stream of Auxine. Removing the top of the plant, and thus the source of Auxine removes this signal and such allows the side buds to shoot <3
The balcony plants seem to be doing well in their new home. Also very cozy to enjoy my new balcony after a night shift
so pretty!
Apparently sugar snaps (amd other sweet peas) are just also very pretty plants in general
that is beautiful.
