Can someone explain why my stop loss order was executed twice, resulting in the opening of a new position in the opposite direction?

That sounds like your stop loss was set as a stop market + reverse order

Basically:
Your SL hit → it closed your long/short.
But the same trigger opened a new position in the opposite direction because the "reverse" function was enabled.

Happens if you use close position + open opposite type stops. Check if you accidentally set a stop limit or stop reverse. Also maybe latency or slippage caused two triggers.

Always double-check the order type before confirming.

I only set a stop loss order when I initially placed a short order and I did not activate hedge mode (if that is what the reverse function means).

Most likely slippage + lag triggered your stop loss and opened a reverse position by accident. Check if you were near liquidation cross margin can flip positions if margin runs out.

My $TAO bear thesis:

The core issue is not whether some Bittensor subnets do “real work.” The issue is who is actually paying for that work.
In a normal business, a real customer pays cash for a useful product. In TAO, a subnet creator can define a task, miners do the work because they want TAO, validators score it because they want TAO, and the creator also gets rewarded in TAO. That means the system can fund activity before any real paying customer exists.
