Would it be possible to add some sort of tether item that allows the portal to be open for longer durations?
It would help in moving mass amounts of entities around and making sure they don't get stuck or despawn on the other side when you go through. I know the portal stays open for quite a while when you don't enter but this way you don't have to constantly open the portal again and again.

Yeah, maybe something you can throw into the portal that doesn't appear on the other side, and you have to remove it manually, as if its wedged the door open

The portal will add to the timeout timer every time something goes through it. In theory, as long as you continuously throw things through it it’ll stay open.
The portal will close faster if the owner of the portal walks through it tho, so don’t do that

That's where the idea comes in, if the owner goes through to check if everything on the other side is not breaking or stuck, this item would keep it open so they can go straight back without having to open it again.
Like the item would keep it open for a solid 5 minutes even if the owner of the portal goes in and out multiple times.

Potentially a consumable "portal wedge"? Right-clicking on the portal will wedge it, shift-right-clicking the portal destroys the wedge (to balance)

Or maybe you can hold right click to charge the Tempad, and then let go to form the portal. the longer you charge it for the longer it will stay open for, and also longer cooldown before next use

it doesnt fit the theme of the mod, the timedoor was designed in the original show to be an elusive pane of glass
