Although recycle does work with units, the game doesn't allow you to put recycle on any units through charms to avoid that interaction

Its because it can’t force an card to not trigger, it can only force it to not be played

placing down a card wouldn't trigger recycle, the card triggering would
same with consume on non-item cards
noomlin (and zoomlin), though, work on both! if you exit and re-enter, the noomlin will reappear on a placed-down noomlin'd unit, and if that unit triggers then you'll get a free card play the turn after they triggered

Yeah but that's because frenzy causes a different kind of trigger
companions with recycle will not trigger if they can't recycle but interact with frenzy the same way as items do if it can recycle on the first trigger
though again, this isn't achievable in vanilla, so
