#Berry Blade is ambiguous

The Berry Blade will only heal your front ally if they're in the same row as the enemy it hit
This should either be clarified in the description or it should be able to heal a different row if it's the only row with healable companions

I mean, I think it makes sense? There are two potential front allies, they're separated by rows, it'd make sense for it to heal the front ally on the same row

it also makes sense to me but I can see your point. at least a Hidden Keyword explaining what "front" means is enough, like they do with "active" or "hit"

royal granite
#

yeah that's fair

I can see it being a similar logic to how things attack

steep ivy
#

Oh sorry, I'm not talking about the case where there are allies in both rows

#

I'm talking about the case where there's an ally in the other row

#

but none in the same row

royal granite
#

oh yeah that is fair

#

It makes sense both ways

#

But that's a pretty niche interaction, it'd be weird to have a separate explanation for that interaction

steep ivy
#

I might be biased since this interaction caused me to lose a win streak in the final battle but I think cards shouldn't be ambiguous even in edge cases
The easier way to fix this would just be just making it heal the front ally in the other row, no explanation needed

#

i mean, most stuff in wildfrost is ambiguous for edge cases

#

overburn instantly explodes on scrap health enemies because their max health is technically 0

#

overburn on 2-tile enemies hits both rows

#

I do agree that it should probably heal the other ally

Did you know On Kill effects don't trigger when you kill the first phase of a two phase boss

royal granite
#

Yeah

steep ivy
#

Its not a big deal but new players did get frustrated at it, idk, it would just be nicer if those cases were considered and fixed

royal granite
#

I mean, I think one of the upsides of Wildfrost is the experimentation

#

The game doesn't handhold the player except for when the player tried to kill the leader with an item

#

And the game also doesn't limit the player in a lot of cases

#

You can set up an infinite in at least 5 different ways

steep ivy
#

Experimentation usually implies that the player makes the choice to try something even though they don't know how exactly it works
In the 2 aforementioned cases the player is more likely to assume that it works one way and feel cheated when it doesn't

#

Just like how most players would assume that the Berry Blade heals the ally in the same row it hits an enemy even if you have allies in the other row as well

royal granite
#

I personally feel like in both cases it can go either way

#

Simply because of how the rest of the game works, and how the effects are worded

steep ivy
#

I don't even think that Berry Blade objectively could have a different interpretation
It can't heal both rows since it says "ally" and not "allies", but the row itself shouldn't matter when referring to the "front ally"

#

I was rewatching Frost Prime's video on the game when I spotted the On Kill effect not triggering, that was his first run so he didn't even know the bosses have 2 phases

#

Ultimately, true experimentation usually feels much better when it has a positive result
This is why Ultrakill was praised so much for the amount of weapon interactions you can discover
and interactions that were weak were criticized until they were buffed

2 tile enemies be wild'n

Instead of just making the card wordier, I'd add a visual effect to preview (potential) heals. So like, you have this card picked up ready to play, and it shows glowy hearts where it's going to heal. Or mousing over Big Berry shows hearts to his pals.

royal granite
#

Yeah that's a good idea

#

Show, don't tell

that's a good idea

Oops sorry for the ping
