Compared to most other games of its genre, Wildfrost has a very small range of difficulty. Slay the Spire has 20 ascension levels; Across the Obelisk has 14 madness levels; Hades has the heat system, which goes all the way up to 50.
Wildfrost has three bells, and don't get me wrong, I like the ones we have, but something seems to be missing. In general, the difficulty starts rather high, but then doesn't get too much higher than that.
Maybe if the default difficulty was toned down a little, and then there were more options to increase/modify certain parts of the difficulty, more people would be able to enjoy themselves.

I'm sure more difficulties are coming. But the dev team is like, 4 people big, and one is the artist and one is the musician, so I'm not expecting any word on it for a while.
i will note that for sts the "intended difficulty" levels are only ascensions 1-5
the rest were just added for insane people and probably will be added over time
honestly i like the difficulty more in this game, they give you benefits on top of detriments which is way more fun imo
but i do think some additional bells like the ones we already have, with increased difficulty and rewards would be really cool
