Automatic “Always Off-road” Mode

Is it possible to have SunnyPilot startup in “Always Off-road“ and stay until you shift out of park? Or if you shift to park, go back to “always off-road” again automatically.

It seems like it’s possible to detect if you’re in reverse so I’d assume other gears are possible to detect as well?

This would be very beneficial for those not running the OBD2 comma power to allow updates & settings changes without bringing the device inside (or manually hitting the button to force off-road mode which is already a huge improvement over OP)

This would only apply for cars with an automatic transmission (not sure if that’s detectable or not either)

I need to sync it with recent changes to get it in dev-c3-new builds again.

However, it will not exit offroad automatically like you suggested. That is not something we'll be supporting. However, there is another PR which adds an exit offroad button right on the home screen to make it much easier : https://github.com/sunnypilot/sunnypilot/pull/872

Ah nice!! May I ask what the reason is for not supporting exiting it automatically on gear change? If it starts up in always off-road mode and doesn’t exit you’d have to hit the button every single morning 😬

Some users don't want to go onroad as soon as they start driving, for various reasons including privacy (they don't want their home location to be part of the routes). Adding the exit button on home-screen was the perfect compromise because it makes it extremely easy to switch to onroad. No more going into menus and scrolling.

I'd like a toggle to automatically go off road and update when there is an update available.
