i know there is problems with ownership, being a third-party, and needing involvment of a company that still not yet in multiversus (but could be in the future) and that it's not really WB related, but not fitting? i don't think this is really a good reason. Banjo might have some problems, but not fitting with the game is not one of them. unless you're talking about not really being WB related, but WB put stuff that it's not related to them in their crossovers, there is a bunch of stuff not related to WB in ready player one.

I'm glad you have come around to Jarro. I will now say that I think a Survivor Character would be pretty cool to see. The show was very influential to the TV landscape and I do like a few seasons. I do think someone like Malcolm Freeburg would be a good addition as a third party

I guess it's more just a difference of what makes a perfect choice. Even among DC characters I'd rather have someone like Booster Gold who hasn't gotten a ton of spotlight outside of the comics while still being recognizable enough to people who aren't familiar with the comics.

Or Green Lantern who provides a lot of moveset potential and can represent a massive section of the DC universe by having multiple of the lanterns (maybe even some non-green ones) as skins as well as the various lantern corps being pretty impactful to the wider comic mythos

I think Jarro is more interesting simply due to his relationship with Batman. Jarro literally considers Batman his father. I think Jarro could have some really fun move set potential even if he has to be a duo character with someone like Nightwing or Damian

I mean I don't really care about the relationship part in a fighting game like this. Interactions are cool especially since this will have a story, but since most of the characters won't have any connections with one another I don't think existing relationships are as big of a deal. Jarro isn't unlikable or anything but I don't think he's interesting enough as a character to justify a spot on personality alone. The moveset could be decently interesting but at the end of the day the big thing for me is that he just doesn't have enough widespread appeal.

Lots of other DC characters provide unique movesets, interesting relationships, and name recognition. I don't mean to say I'd never want him in the game or anything there's just a lot of DC characters I care more about

Jarro is the perfect choice for Multiversus for a few reasons

He can never appear in an Injustice Game. He’s too small to make a playable apparence, and shapeshifting is a shaky idea due to how The Atom worked in Injustice 2. Jarro and other DC Characters with non Humanoid body plans like Krypto and Parralax have Multiversus as the only Fighting Game they can feasibly make an appearance in. Characters like Cyborg, Green Lantern and Booster Gold already get their chance to shine, characters like Jarro don’t.

Jarro represents the more wacky and whimsical side of the Batman Mythos. Characters like The Joker and Nightwing represent his more grounded tales, but The Dark Knight has gone on wacky adventures many times. Jarro is a perfect representation of the insane adventures Batman has been on throughout the years

Jarro is a recent character, debuting in the comics in 2018. Many DC Characters that debuted in the later half of the 2010s didn’t stick, like Bluebird, Godspeed, Rogol Zar and Sideways. Jarro (along with The Batman Who Laughs and Naomi) were among the few that did. Naomi’s powerset isn’t that interesting and could be in Injustice just fne and The Batman Who Laughs is more fit to be a skin or boss.

Jarro has very wide moveset potential. He can use all of Starro’s Psychic abilities, along with shrinking capabilities and many bat gadgets. He fits really well in the chaotic platform setting.

I definitely disagree that being in the batfamily alone makes him well known enough. For example, Duke is part of the bat family.

And while he's pretty well like by most people that know about him, he's still only in recent comics and so pretty much only comic fans want him. Other bat family characters like any of the other former robins, batgirl or Catwoman are pretty well liked and are known by lots of people that haven't read a single comic.

I'm not going to try to dispute him being loved by most of the people that know of him but I don't think that's the only thing to consider

When I say obscure I don't mean like he's completely unheard of, but he just hasn't broken into general knowledge for non-comic fans.

Like I knew who Jarro was but I haven't been reading comics recently so I basically forgot about him until I joined this discord. He's appeared in one event and hasn't shown up since.

As for the reddit thing... is 1k a lot? I'm not really on reddit much but I mean from a brief google search these subreddits have hundreds of thousands of members. I'm not saying he doesn't have his fans but I'm not sure it's enough to throw him in over far more iconic DC characters. Later on sure but I think it's important for the longevity of the game to start with characters that have more widespread popularity

For a game like this I think it's a balance between niche and popular and there are characters that are considered to be niche in a more widespread sense but popular when you get down to the specific fandom (again, I think the earlier example of Booster Gold fits there, or for instance the Ninjago characters)

Jarro was a major reccuring character in Scott Synder's Justice League Run and was in No Justice and Death Metal, but he hasn't shown up since. Some speculate he will be showing in DCUO sometime. I think that Jarro with time will be in the general knowledge of non comic book readers. Ironheart wasn't that well known by non comic readers, but more and more people are knowing who she is every day, to the point where she's getting an MCU Movie. Jarro with time will cross into general knowledge.

It's actually gotten extremely exhauating to use this server because of it. I had no opinion on it. But it's been annoyingly dominant.

And we get 1 person mentioning him, then 5 others follow (at suspiciously the exact same minute).

Then not 5 minutes go by, or heck, one other person suggests a different character, and one of these Jarbros HAS to make sure their character is always the last one suggested.

I'm sorry, but to me, this is invasive spam. This slowmode should last for a whole day to prevent this.

A kid really isn't gonna think too hard about that stuff. Starro is a classic comics character and was featured most globally in James Gunn's SS, which was R-rated and super gory. Aside from his usage in other mediums, I can't say the kid demographic will be super down with Starro. That being said, there's still hope there.

Jarro's only been featured in the comics. Don't get me wrong, he's super cute and cool, but Starro dressed as Robin has too many layers for a regular audience to figure out. If Jarro were to show up somewhere else that'd be cool, but for right now I don't see it happening outside of a skin.

(This is all assuming the DLC for Multiversus is paid; if it's free, and if the developers really do want to have a joke character, that may be a good candidate)

Ya know what I think is pretty likely. Premier Skins, similar to Injustice 2, where the character is functionally the same, but has a different voice. Fiona would be premier skin of Finn. Cake would be a premier skin of Jake. Black Lightning would be a premier skin of Static Shock (if Static ever makes it), ect.

I've already said my piece on Starro in this game. Would be cooler as a boss, wouldn't be mad if there was a Jarro Skin for a Playable Starro tho. I also think that Starro doesn't really work as a playable character in Injustice, you can't really accurately represent telepathic and mind control abilities in a 2.5D Fighter in a way that does them justice.. He wouldn't feel like Starro in Injustice.

I think the same about other characters but not Jarro, for me Jarro has incredible potential. The potential is due to his abilities, there is a lot to offer, for example when grabbing his opponents, he would not use his arms which is ridiculous, he could throw himself in the face of his opponents to grab them and use his mind control to immobilize them, this sounds a little broken but the truth is that it is just a grab animation. This character has potential because it can offer creative movements.

Actually there's a pannel where Batman calls Jarro his favorite Robin and it's 100% canon. So canonically Jarro is actually his favorite Robin. (I can DM you the panel if you don't believe me). Not having the Steven and Connie duo in this game would be an extreme injustice.

I must admit that we agree that warner has a huge catalog, and I prefer quality over quantity.

Something that Multiversus did first was to choose their presentation characters wisely, but my point of view is the thematic duos, in other words only having a maximum of 2 characters from a franchise in Multiversus, this gives spot for more Warner licenses join the roster.

I will explain myself better with this example, be prepared to read a lot of text.

• In conclusion, for me it is more than enough to have a maximum of 2 characters per franchise, so there is more room for new licenses, I could accept a maximum of 3 characters per franchise but I feel that 2 is more formal. (Unless it's an iconic trio.)

I know I didn't mention a duet for Shaggy and Arya but I can't really think of good candidates.

Characters that are non human from DC like Jarro/Starro, Krypto The Superdog and Dex-Starr would be much more at home in here than as playable in Injustice. The best they can do for Jarro in Injustice is what they did with Dex-Starr in Injustice 2. Make him the character move of Batman like Dex-Starr was the character move of Atrocitus

I also don't think we'll get reboot Ben aside from maybe being a skin. He's fine and all but especially with his series being over there's not a ton of reason to use him. No reason to cross promote with a show that's finished and he's easily the least wanted version of the character
