I feel like if the game comes to Switch, it would have to be excluded from the crossplay web the other platforms have going on. The NASB devs couldn't get 3+-player rollback matches working on Switch and even Sakurai mentioned that rollback was planned for Ultimate but had issues being implemented. I'd be surprised if the MVS devs could get 2v2 matches working on Switch without using delay-based netcode for them, which would subsequently prevent it from being crossplay-compatible.

It doesn’t need to be that complex. A lot of older fighting games did stuff like it. You pick a character, there’s a story on how they got into the whole multiverse debacle, they go to different universes interacting with characters then fighting them (or the characters could turn evil for some reason), then they fight the big bad. (Which is assumed to be the Nothing according to Reindog’s profile.)
