Queue times are relative. Its an asymmetrical game so sometimes the queues are more even, and sometimes queues are longer for killers especially when new killers are added to the game and everyone wants to play them. It takes 1 killer player and 4 survivor players to start a game so the scaling for queues is TERRIBLE for killers but still they maintain course sometimes. But yes people do always quit the game, still play it though

the way that all unfolded wasn't terrible but it was bad, best thing I can say rn is to just stay by your team and try not to more forward so much do damage really, because then you'll just get sprayed down

in certain cases it is good to flank the enemy team but if you are, try to stay behind cover on each flank, go after healers or any backline character, leave bubbles around for your teammates beforehand, and make sure you can escape if take too much damage

it also helps to constantly play your role as best as you can, not giving a damn on how your team is or doing
