I could still play this game with the brother I live with I suppose, but I just want to know how much it really costs to leave the game servers up for anotehr five years.
MVS founder packs were like the 3rd best selling game the month it came out and in like top 15 the year it came out, it almost definitely made hundreds of millions, and I can't imagine that leaving servers going would cost more than $250,000 for a year. Look at MK9, that's a WB games published fighting game from pre-2012 where you can still play online. And even if those are P2P servers I don't think it's super unreasonable to ask PFG to create P2P server structure for this game in its final update

I do question how small the player count actually is, as i've never taken longer than 60 seconds to find a match in pretty much any match i've played.
I think one (of the many) things that might've made this game more profitable would be lowering skin prices.
Current prices are $5 $8 $15 $20 for common uncommon rare legendary skins.
Let's say there are 70,000 people who played willing to shell out $20 for a single skin, that's $1,400,000 right there.
Now lets say they lowered C/U/R/L skin prices to $3 $5 $8 and $12
It's very possible that rather than 70,000 people, there would be 200,000 people willing to pay $12, and that would be $2,400,000 , which is close to double.
A bullet pointed list of every 'in hindsight, this was a bad decision' decision that MVS/PVG/WBG made, but I think for pure money-making potential this was one of the worst

I think you are looking at it wrong. The game is shutting down but if we still have fun playing it it doesnt matter. The fun is more important than the progress. Was banana a great pick, no but like velma he was sending the message anyone could be in the game. I actually ended up liking banana a lot. Picks like him were fine season 1 because he was surrounded by 3 huge characters. Season 2 was OK, Jack was hype and BJ was understandable and generally accepted. Season 3 nubia did a lot of damage to the game, Season 4 was actually also ok but marcy was a mediocre pick and shields dropped at a bad time

issue is the save trend is likely people who already played the game rather than new players trying to see potential. Plus hate content farms are more popular on youtube so "game dead" videos take off. The thing that hurts the most though is the petition, I hate to be a jerk about it but those don't do anything to move companies. People would actually need to do hand written letters in large numbers for it to really swap them
