That's the idea. The problem is that some numbers on a page never tell the whole story and lead to a bad experience that also somewhat incentivizes smurfing. In Multiversus especially, where the skill ceiling is not super high cause the game is designed for every character to be easy and really strong to play, there's just not much room for outplaying in certain match-ups, which makes having high MMR a huge disadvantage. I would say it's the nuance is the real reason. Melee is insanely technical at this point. Ultimate is slowly getting there. But it takes an insane amount of dedication to learn one or the other
