A lot of Marvin's setups, epecially in 1s, you can simply wait out. Tricky to approach as Marvin without the projectiles, so the opponent can just not walk into your trap
You need to force them into it in somehow. It's easier in 2s with all the chaos

Dude's got massive dodge distance and awesome speed because of it. Armor on everything and shockingly little whiff. Up-air feint into up-air is a legit strategy. He stalls SO well with lasers and flight, it's like burnout doesn't matter for him. His hitboxes are a joke. He has priority over everything, lives forever and kills early. Huge combos and easy conversions too.

Like dude, when the game plays itself for you that much, you'll hardly ever find proper counterplay that isn't just "wait around until he whiffs" and you'll never need to get better at playing your character either.

Balancing the game for every character to be as strong as possible makes for a boring fighting game, because everyone can just KO you out of one or two interactions, so taking risks is never worth it. More importantly, nobody is fun to fight either.
