Add more better rewards i like the mode but man. Also for 2v2 it should be per elimination as in my allies elimination should eliminate him like smash bros does. Why do I have to suffer for my teamate being 🗑 this is why I don't play 2v2
You can read the Arena Q&A here that explains some of those rules. The gist is that you take damage according to the difference between the number of ringouts your team got vs. what the other team got. If you are tied in ringouts we use current stock damage to break ties (not total damage done as that would favor offensive builds).
For example, if you beat your opponent 2-1 they will take 18 damage, but if you beat them 6-0 they will take 26 damage. The amount of damage also goes up in later rounds.
We know there are still a lot of rough edges with the mode and we are working hard to fix them. Some of the crash fixes are going to take a bit longer as they'll require a client patch and we likely won't be able to get one out till next week sometime. We have been making improvements and fixing issues on the server as much as we can though (we've seen an improvement on various disconnects that were happening). I'm glad you are having fun and we are hoping to continually improve stability!

My teammate and I both have the Brain and Brawn buffs, and we each play as a bruiser-mage hybrid. Do these buffs stack together?
Yes, the item works best if both you and your teammate are of the required class. It doubles the bonus! Arena items work off a limited pool though, so if both you and your teammate are trying to buy it though you'll make it harder for the other to finish it so just keep that in mind
The Arena status page should show you what your teammate has, and what your opponent has item wise. You can also see the items they have at the top of face off and each of those is hoverable. There is a time we wait on that transition so you can scout out what the rest of the lobby is building/using

I'm not 100% sure if I'm correct or not but the Punch Yo Buns perk where you get a damage boost for attacking from behind seemed to be inconsistent, applying the bonus even if I'm facing my opponent

I'm not sure what's up with the matchmaking in this, but out of 5 games i've played my teammates have been nothing but unhelpful. Standing still, buying nothing but blue or higher perks (i get the missions but still)
Over all matches have been me vs them and my teammate lost in the sauce.
Not very fun when your teammate isn't performing well and you get dragged down to the bottom of the scoreboard

Seriously. Like i'm semi okay with a loose matchmaking to prevent long wait times. But if my teammate is gonna sit on their phone or read a book the whole time, There should be something we can do about it.

I'm enjoying the mode with the exception that it's plagued with quitters
so last 3 attempts at arena:
1st: count purchase perks so "players left before match started:
2nd: game crashed before match one
3rd: after losing round 1 teammate left, so i couldnt even purchase perks for round 2. in less than 2 seconds i got brought to match screen, and the match was automatic loss, didnt even load
ok i am looking at my recent matches. apparently got 4th in the first one, that didnt load, 7th on the one that crashed.
such a fun game mode but i keep geting bot matches than punished for altf4ing out of them

its impossible to complete arena event battlepass until they start giving credit for the missions you'd have completed if the game didnt crash halfway through the rounds, if you can even get people to stick around long enough to even get into arena

Yes, I actually find Arena to be the best game mode in terms of lag, I do crash every once in a while so I’ll either play it when all my missions are done or go on casual
Thanks everyone for the feedback so far! We'll be going live with a client patch soon to address the crashing issues, but things that have just recently gone live
- The matchmaker will try and put real players together over putting them with bots when we are looking to fill out a match. This was an oversight on our side, but we want players to be playing with others as much as possible but sometimes use bots to fill out an arena that has spent a long time matchmaking especially where connection quality is concerned. If you still get put with a bot it is likely a odd number issue that we'll continue to look for improvements with but most of the time we should put real players together on a team.
- Mimic battles now have your items when you face them. Mimic battles where not supposed to be a free win or way to farm extra coin, so now they should be more challenging, especially later when you have more items that they can use against you!
It doesn't seem like the mimic battle change has been implemented, ran into multiple mimic teams while having the jump for firewall perk and none of the mimics jumps spawned firewall, in addition no perks are displayed for them
We're going out with a hotfix right now. We are going to make a few Arena tuning changes as well that I'll post after we are back up!

What in particular issues are you referring to? Crashes in Arenas are impacting all platforms and we have changes to help alleviate the worst ones.

Also, the big one, the "waiting for players" crash should be fixed. It mostly impacted Arenas due to the number of games and how bad crashing impacted it, but benefits all modes. For Arena if someone disconnects now you will be sent to end of game and need to wait for all the other matches to finish. Don't leave!

There's a glitch in the shop that won't let you buy items. I click "buy" and nothing happens I have to spam it repeatedly and it causes me to miss out on a lot of good deals. Also just a QOL suggestion, this mode HEAVILY needs to discourage ppl from using it as practice mode ie picking characters they're unfamiliar with since the mode itself go up to like 13 rounds and that's not really fair to put their teammate through. So my suggestion would be put a prompt at the beginning of the mode AND at character selection stating "This mode lasts awhile so try to pick characters you're familiar with!" Basically most ppl are gonna avoid this mode unless w friends if they keep getting randos who use it as literal practice mode ie have no idea what their character even does.
Also my teammate left so I left afterwards because the leavebot was just taking hits and I'm now hit with a 29 min ban cool

Has anyone sussed out how Arena picks matches each round? I haven’t kept track of anything carefully, but first impression, it seems somewhere between a round robin and a Swiss-style bracket (plus eventually teams get dropped when they zero out).
Also: Do we know how it’s pairing up the solo players? I’m curious if the teams are full random, or if it tries to partner up people with similar MMR (good equality within duos but stratification between team), or if it tries to distribute MMR evenly across all teams (stronger players and less-strong players get put together). I honestly can’t even guess at this point, I just started arena’ing yesterday and rounds have been too chaotic (in a good way lol).

I was a avid mtg player and this gives me deck building vibes with crazy potential for the future of this . I was skeptical at first but the more I think about this game mode the more I think it could be a mix of almost like a deck building game and platformer . Also give us like 3-5 more seconds on perk time . I think limiting it is needed but think 3-5 seconds would help

I think you get coins for not spending.
90 seconds per round. Team with higher ring outs wins. If there is a Tie. Then the team with the least damage on them wins.
Deal more damage with extra ring outs to the enemy Health. (Seen as score on bottom)
0 coin for winning (+1 with each win streak past 2 [2 for 3, 3 for 4, 4 for 5+])
1 coin for every 2 ring outs (on team)
0 coin for losing (+1 with each loss streak past 2 [2 for 3, 3 for 4, 4 for 5+])
If you drop below 0 health you're out.

Armor characters have a huge advantage because there's nothing that counters armor in this mode via the perk system and most armor break moves tend to be bad minus ww's
arena is a freakin joke, 20+ attempts and have only had one last to the end, every single other try and it crashes.
ya'll need to figure out how to give people credit for stuff they did before the game crashes evering f-ing time

Honestly, shoutout to the design team for even trying this cockamamie idea.
The other night I independently stumbled upon the extremely funny combination of Batarang + Rockets, and used it to immediately steal 1st place from an objectively more-skilled team (lmaooo), and I just kept on thinking “This feels SO broken but also it’s SO fun.” Afterwards, I kept on wondering if I should be mentioning it in here or not, whether it would ultimately be for the betterment of the mode if someone “complained” about it.
Then just yesterday I was skimming through the official Arena blog post again (checking for something else) and I noticed these crazy designers had literally mentioned this exact combination in there as an example build that you should try. They knew, my dudes! They already knew!!
That’s so awesome, man. That put the biggest grin on my face. This mode is pure cheddar.

Arena mode has been a good addition to the game. Some suggestions to make it even better.

Do not pair people with a bot from the very start of the game. Yesterday I queued to play and it found a match within like 5 seconds. Turns out almost the entire Arena was bots from the start. They're were 2 or 3 teams where both players were actual people, several teams where both players were bots, and me with a bot teammate. I still almost won anyway but it's really disheartening to basically have a guaranteed loss and waste of time right from the start. And yes I know they were bots both based on performance and the inability to toast once it was finished.

Balance the perks. The common, uncommon, rare etc doesn't feel accurate. Several common perks are better than basically every rare perk. Certain perks are almost always picked as well like hard hitter, vampirism, and damage sponge. Nerf these slightly and buff some other perks because right now attack damage and defense are just better in every way vs most perks.

Allow us to view profile, report player, and block player for our Arena teammate once it's over like any other mode. I want to be able to report and or block people who troll.

Evaluate the length of a typical Arena match. I personally feel it's about right and needs that many rounds for the income and perk system to do its thing but some feel it's too long. Maybe try changing the HP loss to a standard -34 so that you lose 3 matches and you're out.

Consider giving partial rewards for people who crash/drop. I only crashed once when Arena was first introduced and haven't had any issues myself since but I know others do and it can be very frustrating to play half a dozen matches and get nothing. To discourage possible abuse in the form of intentional disconnecting, award half of what someone would normally receive for the number of rounds they did complete.

you should be rewarded extra gold if your teammate gets replaced by a bot
on xbox one, crashes after 2 or 3 arena matches usually when either loading up the next fight or loading the shop between matches. often have the fight start but none of the fighters show up and the clock never starts then it crashes. I only had 2 arenas ever make it to fight 8 or 9. the crashing is consistent in arena, but in other pvp modes I can go a whole night without crashing once, and usually just the no fighters and frozen clock crash, don't have the issue with crashing while loading the fight or loading the results screen unless its arena
the first few days every time i'd find a match id be taken back to the matchmaking screen after selecting my character due to too many people leaving and would take 5 or 6 tries to actually get to a fight.
that's gotten better fortunately.

Yeah Arena’s been acting funky but they also seemed to JUST push an update for it so that might be why. Rerolls cost 3 coins and interest starts at 1 coin per 6 now
Hey all, thank you so much for all the Arena games that have been played so far! We've enjoyed watching you play and hope y'all have enjoyed playing. We know the start of the feature was a bit rough, but we've been working to continually improve the stability and while we know there is still work to do, being an experimental mode we wanted to understand what y'all thought.
So now that the leaderboards are down, and the event is over, Arena will be live for another week before take it down for a week in anticipation of the mid-season patch. This will include other Arena improvements but for the next week we are going to be pushing a change to Arena to change how they are played.
One of the most consistent pieces of feedback has been the amount of time required to play Arena. It is playing a bit long even for our original intentions so we've tweaked some of the health loss and economy to reduce the average time it takes for someone to complete an Arena. We wanted to get y'alls opinion on this change over the next week and we'll have a survey so we can get the feedback as to whether people like the faster Arena more or less. The speed changes mean a couple things.
- You lose health faster now, it is possible to be out in as little as 3 rounds, but generally about 4 losses
- More money is put into the economy early and more often due to less rounds being played, start the game with 20 gold now
- Interest increased to need less gold (1 per 6 to start), and give more at max (10)
- Rerolls increased to 3 gold
- Items have had their xp necessary reduced, 1 for level 2, 3 for level 3
- Item drop rates have changed so that they appear earlier
- Streaks have been tuned to give bonuses earlier
- We reduced character choice to one of each class. This was mainly done to avoid teams with duplicates. We didn't think that teams with the same character were super interesting, and generally Tanks were the only ones that could dupe, so we shouldn't see two Jasons or two Wonder Woman teams anymore.
- Random character is 5 gold, reroll is 4 gold
- Prestige gains lowered to account for shorter Arena times
We want to know what you think so keep an eye out for the survey when it releases! Also some things we are still focused on
- Improving stability, more people getting into matches, and less crashing
- Improving shop responsiveness on reroll, buying and selling

I just got 400 Prestige for a win and the arena went by way faster, so still pretty good
wont lie, the reduced time makes it feel alot more luck based, one good round and you can get lvl 3 in one turn
plus you get soooo much gold now it almost feels too easy? idk still havent played a bunch
yeah i just got a win on only round 8 with two level 3 powerups and level 2 batarang and vampiric. if you know what powerups are good its so easy to win now
As others have mentioned, it came down in par with the time reduction we were seeing during testing, about 40-45%. Should be roughly the same Prestige gain per minute played but there are always outliers (which was true before)
1 - 400, 2 - 200, 3 - 100, 4 - 50, 5 - 35, 6 - 25, 7 - 20, 8 - 10
I consider myself someone that can play plenty characters, but only 4 choices at the start is a bit too limiting 😓

Also wow idk if its fair but man i am having a blast with these changes just won 6 games in a row and 8/10 total, It does feel like knowing what powerup combos are broken is really important now. Being able to get lvl3 anything on your first turn is so OP you can just coast off that for a couple rounds then have an insane amount of gold

I'm willing to go into round 1 with no items every single time if it guarantees I can play as my main - couldn't there be some gold-expensive option to just pick your favourite and go? I can live with everyone else spending 20 gold, I'll fight them anyways lol
I mean you can reroll? plus part of the fun of arena is you dont have to play your main to win, it lets you try out new characters who get effected by powerups differntly
Regarding the recent Arena changes I think most of it is an improvement. Here is my feedback.
Increase the hero selection options to 6 or 8. 4 feels like too few.
Slightly reduce starting gold and gold per round. It feels like you get too much now and it detracts from the saving vs spending choice players used to have to make.
Perks still need balancing because some are basically worthless compared to others that you should pick practically every time. Most green, blue, and purple perks are worse than common ones like hard hitter and brick wall.
Currently I haven't seen any way after the Arena is finished to friend request, report, or block your teammate. Allow us to do these things like with every other mode.
I do see your point, but it would probably cut the Leaverbots down significantly if people just got what they wanted. Better yet the full roster with a "Random" option for people who are into mixing it up. I'd much rather get to try and combine new powerups with characters I actually like playing.
A full roster random would be really cool but if people leave at the character select they dont get replaced with leaver bots the match just ends
The Leaverbots are the people who just picked someone after all available rolls were flops and then got annoyed by match 2 or 3 😂 I will play with 15 epic loadout Iron Giants and come in last place happily without a peep if I can just be my main
Regarding your last point, you can find recent teammates (and opponents) by going to the “Recent” tab in the friends list menu. I invite good Arena teammates all the time using this

Try the recent tab. As long as you remember their name you should be able to find them. However if someone gets replaced by a LeaverBot, their name will stay as “LeaverBot” in all menus (including leaderboards which is kinda funny) until you restart your game so keep that in mind
Sometimes when selling a perk it will glitch and sell two of your perks at once.
Add a counter so that if you've rerolled 9 times in a row without any of your current non maxed perks showing up as an option to buy then on the 10th reroll it must include one. It feels really bad rerolling 30 times and not having either of the two perks you need show up.
Also why is the dark mimic version of my leaverbot teammate twice as good as the leaver bot? Like it's already bad having a bot as a teammate so can we at least get the more proficient bot?
anyone else kinda annoyed how the game doesnt really weigh the upgrades you need to get? Like sometimes I'll roll a bunch of times and not get any of the upgrades I need to level up, especially apparent in the late game

Is there some technical reason Arena was taken down? I know there are changes planned with the mid season patch but I wish it was still playable in the meantime

Shop lag is still a thing and if it happens while trying to sell a perk the game can glitch out and sell multiple perks. It happened yesterday to me. I sold only the 4th perk in my list and when it went to the next screen my 2nd perk in the lost was magically gone. This issue can completely ruin an Arena run. Possible solutions: 1a. Have a cooldown after selling a perk where you can't sell another for 5 seconds. 1b. When selling a perk have a confirmation window pop up "are you sure you want to sell?" And have the "No" option highlighted by default so you have to move over to and select "Yes". 1c. Make it so you always have the ability to buy back the last perk you sold.

There are a few perks of higher rarity that are really good but the common "Hard Hitter", "Brick Wall" and uncommon one that gives critical strike and dmg/knockback for each tank/assassin or whichever duo pair are top tier and better than the vast majority of higher rarity perks. Solution: Track stats on perk choices and Arena outcomes to see which perks are being most commonly picked by those winning Arena and nerf those while buffing less used ones. Alternatively, raise the rarity of these strong perks and lower the rarity of worse ones.

This needs to be fixed immediately. If you don't level up your uncommon perks fast you typically won't ever get them level 3 which causes a lot of wasted money. I don't do that cuz I've gotten wiser but this will be extremely frustrating for newcomers.
Furthermore I'd like to add 2 perks that should just straight up be removed from the system because I feel there's no balancing them in a way that makes them fair without making them garbage at the same time. First is Your Weight in Gold perk. That one either causes a straight throw because some inexperienced player doesn't know how to work the shop for choice buys while saving gold at the same time OR it becomes so busted there's no chance of anyone else winning.
I managed to get Your Weight in Gold early and I know how to work the shop system so I managed to keep it consistently useful for my entire arena session while luckily getting Finish Them, Devilish Contract, and the Grow perk. Add that to my over 500 wins Beetlejuice and I was basically incapable of dying. I caused 4 teams to ragequit lol. This perk just isn't healthy for the mode.
Second Perk that needs to be removed is Air Specialist. This perk is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS because it's super useful at level 2 on the right character. A Banana Guard main w a Lvl 2 Air Specialist is an absolute monster. He's unbeatable you can't hit him and he's SO FAST IN THE AIR. The only blessing is most ppl don't know yet how broken this perk actually is but I faced it firsthand and there was absolutely nothing I could do against this Banana Guard main spamming his airs left n right and using his perk to camp in the air. I would've 100% lost that Arena session had he not sold it for something he thought was more useful. The moment he did I beat him and my team won the session. The difference that perk made was INSANE.
Also plz let us change our skins sometimes the timer makes us pick the wrong one we wanted. 😭
It would also be nice to be able to toast after each arena match. Even when you do your last match it can occasionally bug out and not allow you to toast anyone at all

We are planning a larger change coming with the next season. Based on our data higher rarity items do have a higher win percentage, but it is still possible for players who out-skill their opponent to still win with low rarity perks. Common and uncommon are still intended to be part of builds if players get them to level 3, but commons are almost always better replaced with higher rarity items. We might not be fully there yet but we are keeping an eye on how the items are doing!

So this gets a bit into our overall design about how we expect the Arena to be played. If you wait to reroll till late the expectation is you will have a hard time finding your common/uncommon, so if you want to get your level 3 of those it is better to do a reroll early/mid arena. We want to create a point in the Arena where players are best transitioning to "late game" where they trade out commons/uncommons for rare/epic/legendary. If you have a level 3 common/uncommon you may still hold onto it, but making that transition is the best way to secure an Arena win. The extra levels is something we are always thinking about whether it should be 3 or maybe more. As far as the power curve goes on level we still are fairly happy with it, in that you need to invest in level 3 before you get the benefit, which might not be reached. It is a risk/reward for players to think about. We still want to make room for higher rarity to show up much more commonly late game, so probably not much room to add back in commons, but we also don't want that to be the strategy late game. Players who want those items need to spend their coins early to secure those items.

I think the tuning on this item might be too high, we are keeping an eye on win rates for different items/levels. As far as a risk/reward item though I think Gold Suit fills an interesting space where you sacrifice some reroll capacity so you can maintain the bonus. Everything you mentioned in your build there is Rare/Epic/Legendary and is available to others to purchase so as people get more comfortable with the idea of how you progress later in the Arena I hope it changes what the current meta is. We've also got more items coming in the next Season so we're hoping to continually keep the mode fresh.

We were noticing this was a rarely used but powerful item. We did hit it with the patch but it might not have been enough, we may touch this again next week. The power is less explicit so we probably over-tuned it.

Probably going to switch random selection over to pick a random skin you own. As far as backing out, that is a bit harder with how the Arena flows and making sure we've got everyone locked in time .

For sure! The UI for Arena is already pretty intense so we are focused on the needs players have to be effective in the Arena first, but want to add more ability to utilize toasts hopefully.
Servers are visibly struggling with arena today. Every transition is delayed and shop double sold again
Also I'm sure you're right that the stats show higher win rate with higher rarity perks but I wonder if that's partly because it's harder to max out common and uncommon perks and because only like 2 common and 2 uncommon perks are really really strong with the right synergy of perks. I've tried some other combinations and the one I use is just better and I'm pretty much the top performer in every match, not because I'm great In actually pretty mid but that perk combo is a beast. In any case my suggested solution would solve the issue no matter what the perk percents chance is. The one where you add a counter such that after x shop rerolls where none of your current perks that aren't maxed show up to buy it automatically has one of those perks as a buy option. This also addresses the issue of just being really unlucky with rerolls regardless of rarity
Getting bots at the start of the match is killing this game. Would be nice to not have bots at all unless a player leaves.
That the game crashes and you lose all the rewards doesn't matter how far in the arena you were, then you are punished without being able to matchmake for a while totally sucks 😔

Please do not allow arena to match me with a bot from the start against full teams of people. I'd rather wait or just not match at all than get matched with a bot
Why can’t I start matching with my friends
Not only are bot teammate terrrible but somtimes they'll malfunction and sell all their perks and refresh all their money until they only have 1 perk thats not even leveled up.................

I've played a lot of Arena, all solo queue, with 30+ 1st place finishes. Looking at the perks I would use as well as the perks by others who also finish within the top 2 teams, there are about 15 perks that are constantly used to win and the rest are just bad by comparison. Hard Hitter, brick wall, blade and shield, brawn and brain, come at me (the critical strike one) thorns, vampirism, the rare one that gives like 40/60/100% dmg and knockback when enemy at high hp, cement shoes, gold weight, the giant size one, the devilish one where you take 50% of ally dmg and do more dmg when high hp, epic rocket missiles, legendary batarang. I may be forgetting one or two but that's about it. Future balance changes should nerf these and buff other perks to encourage a wider variety of setups.

Please stop allowing arena to match you with a bot from the start. I'm going to have to just stop playing this mode at all because it's a 50% chance it's just a waste of 30 minutes. It's a shame because this mode is fun.
Ran into this same problem. Had 4 ppl in a lobby including myself ready to search for an Arena game, but matchmaking wouldn't even allow the search. Seems we're only allowed 1 friend per lobby when searching for a match. I understand that may be to prevent cheating the system but it seems self-defeatist to discourage players from playing w their friends.

You can still be matched from the start with a bot teammate vs teams of actual people. There is zero reason this shouldn't have been fixed with the season 5 patch. I can't imagine why this game failed
