you can but it's super greedy, they can DI out of it. You can make it more consistent by doing only 1 skate hit into nair but you lose damage (and style points), but it doesn't matter as long as you get them to the edge and bite

As long as possible and as much damage as possible. I rarely hit the whole combo at all, but every "long" combo tends to include a lot of smaller ones that happen to chain together. For example, the Gizmo clip included the "arrow -> dair" loop.

Every Steven clip I've seen tends to be mostly the neutral-cancel jab loop, which I have a hard time pulling off. Well, I usually do at least. I'm suddenly landing it a lot this morning ._.
I did see one weird thing with his aerial down-special on Youtube, though. I think it's something like a dodge-jump forward into the shield slide, then kick into the ground combo.
Main reason I have a hard time pulling the move off is because of the down-air, though. Hard to inch forward and do a down-air at the same time on a controller, without doing a side-air. At least with default controls.

Main reason I like Finn is because the different parts of his kit flow really together. His combos are hard to pull off, but they look fancy af when they land

Yeah but how do you get the up special to consistently knock your opponent the way you want it to cause sometimes I get it nicely and other times it launches him far I’ve tested outside of combo and its the same. It seems randomized unless there is a way to control where he knocks. Making me think this isn’t a very realistic combo in actual games.
