See I don’t understand the rifts all that much, mainly the agent smith quest, you have to beat like 30 bosses to finish his event, but each rift only has 5 difficulties, one of them being inaccessible. So that leaves roughly 20 bosses that you could possibly beat, so how do they expect us to finish the event?

I'd suggest labbing Arya and Stripe in training mode for a little bit. Both have a projectile that helps enable their offense. Harley is another good option, but since she's free right now, I'd consider holding off for a while

Also, I will point out that by getting fighter levels, you can get fighter currency, so by doing some rifts you can start to farm up some fighter currency and get a character that way, which I think would likely be better than spending Gleamium

Every character in this game takes skill. Just because superman has a kit that's easier to understand, doesn't mean that makes him super easy to play when you're against experienced/skilled players.
You have a big hurtbox, so you're combo food. Most of your armour gets shredded through using either perks or multi-hit moves. The only really good things he has is air control and ledge guarding. If you're playing superman you've got to learn a lot of matchups, combos, and have good neutral.
Just because he has some good trading moves with armour, doesn't make him braindead and easy.
