@vague flint assuming your not a tournament play, ignore perks for now. run the 5% perk and just understand your char to its roots. After that phase, google a YT guide or do a bit of Twitch exploration and find who is goating your char rn and mimic him

I’m not necessarily a new player but I didn’t know which chat was appropriate. So I thought I’d try my luck here.

Maybe it’s just me, but does anyone else feel like the hit priority is off?

No matter what character I use or when I use what attack, it feels like it’s completely RNG if someone hits through my attack anyways or not. 
  Like as a Jason, for example; A banana guard can hit through my “heavier” moves with a simple jab. Even if I hit first and “land” the attack, I’m still sent flying with more of the damage while I’m lucky if their character even reacts. I’d say it’s lag but I don’t even have lag unless it’s 2 v 2 matches for some reason.

 I’m not upset a losing. If I suck, I suck, but I’m seeing my attacks be nullified by everything, so I’m a bit concerned. Is anyone else seeing the same issues?

@Quin10 Certain moves have priority and lingering hitboxes. BG is the golden example right now. His side special is annoying af cause it goes... AND THEN LINGERS. You have to ignore what char YOU are playing and pay more attention to what character you are fighting. Yeah it's about your moves, but it's more about THEIR moves and what BS they wanna spam on you

100% agree. Personally Multiversus is my dream game of this genre and I was so happy when it first came out, I bought the $100 founder pack in hopes to support the game enough that it’s guaranteed to be fully made. The matchmaking should go off of character level and not account level. This is making it not fun to try new characters when getting put in very challenging lobbies with a character you are new to playing and have not gotten good with.

and winning against a bot in PvP counts as a win regardless so I’d say use it while it’s still happening. It’s tough leveling up that battle pass, too though. They may need to decrease the XP needed to level up as it’s far too grindy. That’s the only reason I’m abusing the bots in PvP.

They’re all the same ish, if you’re going for double ringouts though do a rift 1v2 with Jason, activate rage, then use the bed move - the bots don’t know how to react to him doing that yet so they just swarm you, allowing for an easy double ringout

Here’s some more help if you want to just grind out achievements: use Jason to grind double ringouts with using what I said before, I like using Marvin for the projectile ones, and I suggest getting a friend to do the rift mode with since that also counts for the “party animal” achievement

I'm not entirely sure Jason is really any good at all. He's simultaneously absolute combo food and loses hard to good zoning. Feels like Iron Giant but without the real extreme hitboxes and survival, at least in 2s.

Now this is coming from a 2s perspective, and I know it's early meta so I'm seeing the tiniest piece of the overall picture so many grains of salt here. As I see Jason, he needs supported just like Giant does. He's too slow to ever win neutral against two opponents, if he gets hit he needs saved as his disadvantage state is atrocious, and he can't deal with the heavy projectile characters at all without his teammate just going in for him and making a disruption. I see Giant's pay-off as much higher (he lives much longer, he dominates space much harder, doesn't kill as well but okay), and it makes Jason seem really unappealing.

So there must be some factor we can't see at play, either some of those rifts will have several bosses or there are more than the five in the preview

They did improve the balance as a whole a lot though. I just did a nice long session with Gizmo tonight. He really does just feel like I wanted him to be in the beta.

I have only fought against a few Stevens so far and haven't really tried him significantly myself, but he sure "feels" a lot more dangerous than he was

It kinda feels like his attacks all have just a bit better priority. It may also just be that the game speed changes are really kind to him.

I versed a Steven main with my bugs and i 2-0 him (rematch) still feals kinda weak due to his supportive nature but he is better than the beta Steven i think, or the guy playing him was just good

In a 2s sense, Steven might be a ton better for reasons that have nothing to do with his direct changes. His shield lets you save a teammate in burnout.

I mean game "just" came out, there's LOTS of hiden potential. Also if you think about it we can't really now what's strong rn as we don't know the skill ceiling and potential for every fighter. (Except some outrageously broken ones like banana guard)

I think we can have a lot of general ideas about the balance, but trying to be terribly specific is obviously unreasonable and there's always room for doubt at this stage. For instance, I really am going to doubt that banana guard is particularly broken at all.

I don't think banana guard is bad or anything, but he doesn't really seem better than the other characters to me. He has great damage and knockback, but he's more linear than most of the others. Feels like a fair trade.

That's so cool tho and kinda hype. I would personally dont mind being destroyed if i see a beautiful combo of not just spamming moves but using the fighter and their moves to their full potential. That's fun and i hope i reach that level one day

Back in the beta there was a guy who put like hundreds of hours into Taz back when he was considered terrible, and the stuff I saw him do was so impressive that it made me pick up Taz and what do ya know all of the sudden people were calling Taz secretly very strong

I think almost all final beta balance impressions considered Taz one of the worst. It's still a modern fighting game, and the bottom tiers are as good as like upper mid tiers in older games. No one is quite so helpless as fighting game characters used to be, but there are still better and worse characters nonetheless.
