Synergize can be a few different things

1. helping your team with a combo like if you hit them up and then your partner grabs them or stopping the opps from killing your teammate
2. knowing your partner weaknesses and covering up for them or giving them buffs to their damage like enraged or freeze gauntlets
3. setting up scenarios for team kills or using your moves to keep you both alive and at low percentage

Basically the first thing about synergy is to not be selfish

two key elements of the game make me think this is not possible

1. float mechanics, part of the game play, is that characters are floaty, and you use directional controls to avoid getting KO
2. long animation and gimmicky moves, those are useful in 2v2 as it make the game slower and less reactive

for 1v1, we need different physics, and moves need to be snappy , not long and gimmicky, and KO need to rely less on weight and gravity

1. brawlhalla have its own discord, and i honestly see very little BH talk here, when i think BH should be discussed a lot here, being the game that inspired MVS, MVS would not have been F2P if it were not for BH
2. early on, few BH player unfortunately announced they will move to MVS , because bigger game more money

MVS while moderately successful, its just didnt turn out to be what it first implied
MVS feels like a low budget game with good IP and horrible horrible horrible taste

and from the comment DI seem like a pivotable feature, some seem to really like it, and others like me think its trash

i am honestly really surprised, that some players find DI a good thing
i dont get it , but i fully understand, different ppl having different taste

i wish the art style in MVS was less childish , less fornite
and I wish it was not a DI based mechanics

BH success is a bit historic, it came in the right time at the right price, and one key element of BH that MVS will never have by design
is character customization
you can create an almost unique look for your characters in
you select

1. color
2. skin
3. weapon 1 skin
4. weapon 2 skin
5. sidekick

so 5 thing, in MVS you just select the alt. , so just 1 thing
might seem small, but this is a big deal

add to that that , the game pace make taunts more usable
and the 2D graphics make the skins more enjoyable

so in BH collecting stuff is more rewarding

MVS create a F2P game, which cosmetics that are not worth getting
i dont know how they will make it long term

It's difficult to believe Brawlhalla's success is based on cosmetics. I also find their artstyle to be worse actually (but this is subjective) all the characters are chibi-big heads which rub me off the wrong way. So you saying MVS artstyle is more childish doesn't make much sense to me.

Brawlhalla has also had years to develop their playerbase and I'll give credit where credit is due. They definitely have a solid playerbase that has been around 10k for the past few years.

But MVS still in beta and although they've had a rough start I'm sure they have some good things planned for the New Year

They changed the dodge mechanic for Brawlhalla in patch 2.32 which was a year or so after the game was released in beta.
