Hello! I've been looking into getting a pc of my own (I've been using my sister's), and I'm not sure about CPU choice. I'm mostly using blender and playing minecraft. Rn, my choice is a AMD Ryzen 7 7700 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor, but I'm not sure if that's the best choice for blender suff. Hence why I'm asking here if it is a good choice, or if anyone has some recommendations.

For blender you mainly want a good gpu. You can buy a cheaper CPU and get the same performance when rendering.
The GPU does all the heavy lifting.
The CPU is important for simulations and for gaming but the 7700 is definitely a good processor 👍
ah thx
Now that I think about, I probably meant to ask about the GPU lol
the one I chose was XFX Speedster SWFT 319 Radeon RX 6800 16 GB Video Card
is that good for blender? I'm not very good with all these computer details lol
Nope it isnt. Great for gaming but not so much for 3D and rendering. You want to go nvidia.
https://opendata.blender.org/benchmarks/query/?compute_type=OPTIX&compute_type=CUDA&compute_type=HIP&compute_type=METAL&compute_type=ONEAPI&blender_version=3.6.0&group_by=device_name
For example the RTX 4060 Ti 16 gb is great (for me its 80 $ more expensive but its worth the cost)
The 6800 has a score of 1929 while the 4060 ti has one of 4307. Higher = better so the rendering time will be roughly 2 times as fast with nvidia.
And another thing is that the 4060 ti has 16 gb of vram while the more expensive 4070 has 12 gb.
If you do larger scenes or use many 4k textures you want more vram.
So if 3D is imporatant to you you should really save or invest the 80$.
Rendering 2 hours or 4 is a huge difference. You can iterate faster and thereby learn faster and the nvidia gpu is more efficient so you will be using less energy. And I do mainly 3D so thats my focus
thx a lot, I'll definitly invest in a better one in that case
So is this what you're recommending?
ah, I just noticed it's the 8gb one
this one has 16gb, but it's not Nvidia
Only the case and cooling system is from Msi the hardware is from Nvidia.
You can pretty much buy any rtx 4060 ti and the main difference is the look. Definitely go for the 16 gb version
ah, ok, thx a lot
I'll definitly go withthat one then
and sorry for so many questions lol
It's my first pc build I want to make sure I get the best for what I'm paying
Take your time and ask as many questions as you want, after all you’re spending a lot of money
So, after quite a bit of researching and stuff, this is the list of parts I've got. Do you think this will work well with blender?
Looks great 👍
