but basically try rotating it on a specific axis

the one which u have not locked

because u r currently viewing it from a certain angle and rotating it in that angle

try rotating on the z axis alone

you can do this with r + z

i have tried on 3 different versions of blender: same issue

in the meantime try to make the legs and rig them again from scratch being very careful on how you follow the tutorial

okay you made it badly. let me explain

you need to clear the roll on all the bones in edit mode

#

CTRL+R will clear it. but this will mess up your parenting. so you will need to clear the parent to all the bones, then clear the roll, then re-parent

I don't think i did it right, but this doesn't work for me

I have unparented all parts, cleared the roll (Alt R), but in Pose mode i still can't rotate it properly

as i've explained, your bones are twisted

#

alt+R clears the roll

#

also, it's good practice to **not **have your bones perfectly flat. this can confuse the IK. you should nudge the joints up a fraction to let the IK solver know which way the joint naturally should bend

#

as you can see here it bends exactly as it should

#

all you need to do is re-parent to the now-corrected bones
