#Help with follow path!

I have been following the polyfjord mechanical creature tutorial, but am running into a problem when adding the follow path bone constraint to the legs. I have tried applying scale, rotation, and transform to the path curve, but that has not resolved the issue. The picture depicts two opposing legs both of which have a follow path constraint added. As you can see, one of the legs is weirdly being pulled to the same side as the other leg, which obviously is not the behavior intended. In trying to fix this issue, I also tried applying transformations to the armatures/mesh, which made everything "explode," sending meshes everywhere. Does anybody know what could fix this?

I previously tried troubleshooting with this video, but I was unable to fix the issue. I just discovered a solution for the follow path but it feels incorrect. Basically I moved the path along the x axis far to the left in object mode, which as you can see from the first screenshot fixes the problem of 1 leg being pulled to a side. I was wondering whether applying transformation, rotation, scale to armature could fix the issue, but doing so results in something like the second screenshot

perhaps it has to do with the creature not being at the origin of the world?

not too sure

If the video doesn't solve the problem, then no. Not without seeing the file
